Silent Hill 2 Remake Patch Keeps James From Getting Stuck
Silent Hill 2 Remake Patch Keeps James From Getting Stuck Konami released an update patch for the Silent Hill 2 remake which includes some technical updates, such as reduced visual glitches and stuttering, but also fixes an issue concerning protagonist James Sunderland getting stuck on objects. The full patch notes are pretty lengthy, and cover a total of two sections: technical and gameplay. Several fixes have been rolled out across the PlayStation 5 and PC version. As mentioned above, the Silent Hill 2 remake Patch 1.04 will stop James from getting stuck on objects, such as windows. However, the gameplay issues that have been resolved with this patch seem pretty significant. As it includes fixes to the Abstract Daddy's A.I., James teleporting to the other side of the Brookhaven Hospital if you looked through the wrong peephole, and more. Other fixes include collision, the ability to pick up items during boss fights (which seems pretty major), and things as inconsequential as the deformation of the skirt on the Nurse enemies. Shortly after it's release on October 8, 2024, Konami announced the Silent Hill 2 remake had sold over 1 million copies worldwide . This makes the remake the fastest selling Silent Hill title to date. However, it has not yet cinched the title of being the best selling Silent Hill title, as that still goes to the original. The Silent Hill 2 remake is available for PC and PlayStation 5. The post Silent Hill 2 Remake Patch Keeps James From Getting Stuck  appeared first on Siliconera .

How to make Poached Basil Butter Sturgeon in Disney Dreamlight Valley
How to make Poached Basil Butter Sturgeon in Disney Dreamlight Valley Poached Basil Butter Sturgeon in Disney Dreamlight Valley is a fancy seafood dish that can impress your fellow villagers like Mulan and Belle, among others. You'll need four ingredients throughout the game to make this gastronomic spectacle. All Poached Basil Butter Sturgeon Disney Dreamlight Valley ingredients To make this four-star dish, you'll require the following ingredients: White Sturgeon Butter Basil Lemon Screenshot by Destructoid Screenshot by Destructoid Screenshot by Destructoid Screenshot by Destructoid White Sturgeon can be found within the waters of the Frosted Heights. Get your fishing rod and get the valuable fish for your dish. They're from orange ripples in the water; I found them very quickly in my experience. Butter is an easy ingredient to find as it's sold in Chez Remy after finishing the Ratatouille realm's missions in the Castle. Basil , which can also be used for cooking Creamy Soup , is picked up from the ground in Peaceful Meadow. Look for its green leaves and you should find the herb fairly easily. Lastly Lemons can be grabbed from trees within the Forest of Valor and Glade of Trust. All of these ingredients are pretty easy to get, so you should be able to gather them and cook them at any stove around your house or Chez Remy easily. You'll now have the fancy four-star dish to give, eat, or sell in Disney Dreamlight Valley . How much is this dish worth? You can sell the Poached Basil Butter Sturgeon for 2,284 Star Coins at Goofy's Stall and you can eat the meal for 4,961 Energy. If you sell it, it will account towards your Dreamlight tasks and goals. The post How to make Poached Basil Butter Sturgeon in Disney Dreamlight Valley appeared first on Destructoid .

Review: Thronefall Is a Beautifully Simplistic RTS Game
Review: Thronefall Is a Beautifully Simplistic RTS Game A strategy game or RTS that involves building up a town and its facilities while also dealing with enemy onslaughts can sometimes end up being a lot. Civilization entries can take up weeks of your life. The same goes for Total War, Stronghold, or Warcraft entries. Thronefall feels perfectly designed to capitalize on the dopamine boost that comes from correct strategic decisions, while also eliminating or streamlining certain gameplay elements to ensure we get an RTS that is still challenging, but doesn’t involve massive commitments. In each of the regions in Thronefall that you unlock, you play a monarch who is establishing a kingdom. You start with a central castle, which can be expanded upon if you have enough gold to ensure additional perks. Each day, you determine how to use the gold currently in your treasury. Do you build barracks for different types of warriors? Will you construct walls around your growing kingdom? Should you focus on building homes and farmland to provide additional ways to earn money beyond defeating the waves of enemies that attack each night? Would constructing towers with archers be a wise idea? Then, when night falls, you head out to face the invaders with your monarch and any units available from barracks to defeat those forces so they don’t topple your castle and ruin your new empire.  Image via Grizzly Games The concept behind Thronefall sounds simple, and it is, but it doesn’t make things easy or boring. Rather, it lets you more efficiently plan things out and cut through a swathe of enemy forces. For example, your first task upon founding a new kingdom may be to purchase some homes to provide income. After getting through the first night and facing enemies, you may invest in a tower with archers that will shoot at enemies from a distance and a wall. When you survive another night, you might decide to buy some fields or barracks. After another assault is thwarted, you might want to upgrade the fields so they’ll explode if enemies walk over them, upgrade some of the homes, or choose an upgrade path for the towers that prioritizes either range or rate of fire. It’s simple. It’s effective. You always have the information you need and each decision could be the right one depending on your approach. That beautiful simplicity applies to the enemy encounters as well. Before each evening, you can see on the map where foes will appear. You’ll also see an icon that lets you know if they’re melee units, ranged attackers, or flying foes. This allows you to adjust your approach. So if your current location’s kingdom has three sides open to attack and you see that all of the enemies will come from the northeast that turn, maybe build the wall facing that direction? If you don’t immediately upgrade your barracks or towers, you can use information about current and upcoming waves to inform future progression decisions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-3EK6fbkAH4&ab_channel=GrizzlyGames Even the more active approaches to fighting work well and are extremely fun in Thronefall , making the RTS feel both like a strategy game with a lot of finesse and a hack-and-slash. You can easily pull units created by barracks along with you and place them with the press of a button. An upgrade path option even allows them to attack while they’re following you, should you select it. Your own monarch can dash if they are at full health, constantly unleashes passive attacks, and can perform an aggressive action with a cooldown. If you die, it’s no big deal. You’ll revive again a few seconds later.  All this happens without any distractions as well. The visual design in Thronefall is exceptional, with all allies, enemies, notable buildings, and UI elements in the strategy game clearly constructed so you waste no time in the thick of the RTS’ fights. The colors stand out perfectly. Building designs are immediately recognizable, as are upgrades. Enemies are pretty easily identifiable. Also, I loved how you can see icons that show your units’ specialties when you select them to move them, and that the enemy icons before the evening phase show how many of each type will appear. It's the little things! Image via Grizzly Games While Thronefall is a pretty substantial game and I do wish there were even more levels because it is so good, what is there makes it possible to keep returning. After beating areas, you earn new weapons, perks, and mutators that allow you to influence future play sessions and runs. The weapons are interesting, as each offers a passive attack and an active skill with a cooldown that can change up your approach. The perks are appreciated, since it can force you to tailor your strategies to new approaches, and us being limited to five keeps us from becoming overpowered. But the mutators can be the most fun of all, and they can make a situation substantially more challenging.  However, there is also the endless mode, so I can’t really complain too much about the game eventually ending! By the way, that mode is incredible. It essentially becomes a roguelike here, where you select your loadout for each stage. This determines the area, your weapon, and two perks. You always keep your perks, though the weapon changes. The random nature of it is so inviting, and I loved seeing how long I could survive as the challenge kept increasing.  Image via Grizzly Games Thronefall is an absolutely wonderful RTS game from Grizzly Games that pulls ideas from past strategy and tower defense titles, then executes them in a stylish, minimalistic manner. There are no overwhelming choices. Upgrade trees make sense. Stages are broken up into digestible chunks. The only downside is perhaps that there isn’t more of it, but at least we can replay the areas that are there on higher difficulties later. Thronefall is available on the Nintendo Switch and PC .  The post Review: Thronefall Is a Beautifully Simplistic RTS Game appeared first on Siliconera .

Once Human The Way of Winter update: All new deviations, explained
Once Human The Way of Winter update: All new deviations, explained The Way of Winter update in Once Human has been released and features a bunch of exciting new stuff. In this update, several new Deviations have been added to the game. In case you don’t know, Deviations are special creatures that can be captured by players. This article will tell you everything you need to know about the new Deviations added in the Way of Winter update in Once Human . All new Deviations in Once Human Way of the Winter update https://twitter.com/OnceHuman_/status/1847987232269070797 Before we dive in, you should know that there are three types of Deviations: Territory, Crafting, and Combat. Here are the details of all the new Deviations: Snapshot : Snapshot Deviation belongs under the Combat category, and it takes photographs of nearby enemies and thus increases the weapon damage they receive.  Hydronaut Fish : This Deviation belongs under the Territory category since it can gather seawater as well as help you operate a water purification facility to get fish from time to time. Invincible Sun : This is Combat Deviation, which sends energy rays towards nearby enemies. Plus, it also has a burning effect, which provides continuous damage. Snowsprite : Just like the Invincible Sun, this is also a Combat Deviation that sends frost crystals toward enemies. These crystals inflict damage when shattered, causing frost elemental damage to enemies caught in the crystal's range. Gazzochio : This is a Territory Deviation that paralyzes enemies with (presumably) radioactive lights. It also produces whim items that you can use to dispel the Dusken status from enemies, rendering these normally invincible enemies vulnerable to attacks.  Tar Pudding : This Deviation belongs under the Territory category, which helps speed up your refining facilities or even extract fuel from the nearby surroundings. Ice Bottle : The only Crafting Deviation added in the Way of the Winter update in Once Human . Ice Bottle produces a tactical item that can be used to create ice blocks. Ben Starr Worked on Final Fantasy XVI for 4 Years
Ben Starr Worked on Final Fantasy XVI for 4 Years Square Enix released an official interview with Ben Starr going over his role as Clive Rosfield and experience working on Final Fantasy XVI . In it, he brought up how he worked on the game for four years and what that process was like. He also brought up what it was like meeting Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Tifa voice actress Britt Baron after having shown himself dressed up as the character online . After bringing up how he spent four years working on Final Fantasy XVI, Starr brought up how initially it was about working on the game. However, after that he discussed how his role led to him becoming something of an ambassador for the series.  Here’s the full statement from the Square Enix interview with Ben Starr about Final Fantasy XVI : “There was the secret period of me working on it with my friends. Well, colleagues who then became really close friends. And then I had the year that it came out. And now it’s kind of basking in the glow, the glory of having survived that year, because it was just so intense. I threw myself into it, maybe unhealthily so. But I did that because I really loved it. I saw that this is an amazing opportunity, and they don’t really come around very often. I’m really glad I survived at the other end, and this sounds silly, but it was a lot. It was a lot of responsibility to become a kind of figurehead for a game and then by proxy a franchise as well. Because I really loved talking not just about Final Fantasy XVI , but Final Fantasy as a whole - and celebrating it. I was turning up to award ceremonies in Final Fantasy VIII T-Shirts. I turned up to the Game Awards with my favorite Final Fantasy party on it. I wanted to at all points feel like I could be a vector for this franchise, for people to experience this franchise and almost give them permission to talk about the things they love. I wanted to be very front-faced in the video game community and say: ‘ Final Fantasy is cool, let’s talk about it.’ Yes, my favorite is Final Fantasy VIII , but I want people to feel like they can share their love of Terra or Vivi, or Rydia or… whoever you love, you should be able to love them in the way that you love them. If I can be the person who’s opening the door for someone to talk about it, then let’s go! But that’s a lot of pressure to take on and I felt like I put that on myself. But now, a bit like Thanos at the end of Infinity War, I can relax a little bit and it’s all been worth it ( laughs ).” As for his encounter with Britt Baron after dressing as Tifa from Final Fantasy VII , Ben Starr joked about meeting her after. He said after sharing the photo of himself cosplaying, “I actually messaged Britt a couple of days afterwards apologizing!” He also raved about some of the cast members from Rebirth , as he said, “So Britt’s amazing, and so is Brianna White (Aerith) and Suzie Yeung (Yuffie) - I got to spend time with them. And John Bentley (Barret) is one of the most outgoing, charismatic individuals I’ve ever met in my life!” https://twitter.com/The_Ben_Starr/status/1792562485603496276 Following his role as Clive Rosfield in Final Fantasy XVI, Ben Starr appeared in other video games. Most recently, he was revealed as the voice actor for Prometheus in Hades 2 . When Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 releases in 2025, we’ll hear him as Verso. He’s also shared a number of joke videos, memes, and photos on social media . Final Fantasy XVI is available for the PS5 and PC.   The post Ben Starr Worked on Final Fantasy XVI for 4 Years appeared first on Siliconera .

FFXIV Community Finder Update Adds Founding Member Recruitment
FFXIV Community Finder Update Adds Founding Member Recruitment Square Enix updated the FFXIV Community Finder on the Lodestone, and it now makes it possible to start founding member recruitment. People need to go through the official website to create pages to begin searching for additional members in-game. Here’s how it works. First, we need to visit the site. The Community Finder lets you search by Data Center and World. You can select to start a New Recruitment by logging in and heading to the start of the page. From there, you can create a page for a Free Company, Cross-World Linkshell, or PvP Team and start founding member recruitment in the FFXIV Community Finder. Each one of those options allows for multiple founding members to exist. However, as Square Enix noted, this can’t be done for regular Linkshells.  This is the main addition, but it isn’t the only FFXIV Community Finder update. There are also some quality of life adjustments for those using it to recruit and people who are looking to sign up for new groups. If you created a listing for a new member or founding member, you can see them in the Watchlist section. These will be in a different section from items you added to your Watchlist. All of those will be under the “Listings Created” heading. The other change lets someone who is commenting on a listing set their comment so it can only be seen by recruiting community members. Community Finder updates are relatively rare for FFXIV . One of the last ones appeared in August 2021. That added the Watchlist feature. Final Fantasy XIV is available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC. The next Letter from the Producer Live 84 airs 4am PT/7am ET/1pm CET on November 1, 2024.
