A fearless Destiny 2 player has customized their Titan to look like Ronald McDonald in order to take on the game’s strongest enemy of the Light - The Witness. From the Doom Slayer to Man Ray from Spongebob Squarepants and even the protagonist of one of Jim Carrey's popular movies, The Mask, players have been bringing other characters from a variety of media into Destiny 2 via its flexible Appearance Customization System.
Bungie first introduced Destiny 2’s transmog system to the game during the Season of the Splicer through the Tower NPC, Ada-1, who has players complete a limited number of bounties every season to get materials to change the look of their armor. Fashion is one of the game’s strengths, with Bungie holding regular Fashion Shows to award exclusive emblems to the best-dressed guardians. Additionally, Bungie added the Best Dressed commendation, a feature that was highly requested by the community, which allows players to select which guardian is the most fashion-savvy at the end of activities such as Strikes and Crucible matches. It is because of these incentives that Destiny 2 players often compete to come up with creative designs for their guardians to make them stand out.
On Reddit, a user going by the handle Valus_ _Ta-aurc shared screenshots of a Titan they customized to look like Ronald McDonald, the mascot of the popular fast food restaurant McDonald's. The recreation used several armor ornaments and shaders, such as Wyrmguard Greaves, the Season of the Wish ritual leg Titan leg armor, and paired it with the Rivalry Resolute shader to achieve the look of the iconic clown’s yellow pants and red boots. For the yellow jacket, the player used the Luxe Parka chest armor ornament that is obtainable from the Eververse store. Additionally, the player used a helmet that was obtainable in the Season of the Deep that has frills at the back to achieve the look of Ronald McDonald’s bright red clown hair.
The post quickly gained popularity on the Destiny 2 fashion-focused subreddit, with some users calling the look “terrifying” and “cursed,” stating that they would not like to come across this particular Titan in the Crucible. A few users even pointed out that abstractly, the Titan looked like another famous clown, that being Pennywise from Stephen King’s horror novel It.
While this Titan is already geared up to take on the Witness, they will have to wait a while since Bungie has delayed The Final Shape until June 4, 2024. However, before then, the company plans to release an update called Into the Light that will surely give Destiny 2 players new things to do.
