“We don’t want to wait that long either”: Todd Howard Reveals Retirement Plans, Explains Single Greatest Reason Bethesda is Taking So Long With Elder Scrolls 6

Todd Howard has significantly contributed to the growth of the gaming industry as a game developer. Countless video game franchises like Fallout, Elder Scrolls, and Starfield have shaped the youth of the gaming community and each of these games takes a great deal of time and effort to perfect. Howard is not getting any younger and fans are eager to know when the next major title will be released without giving any concrete answers.

Age is just a number for someone like Howard and he prefers to keep working until his knees give out. It is a testament to his passion and admiration for the ever-growing video game industry.

Todd Howard Would Rather Wait Longer Than Rush the Next Elder Scrolls to Hit Store Shelves

The gaming community grew to respect Howard’s vision as a game developer, and his colleagues wanted to honor him by adding a special side quest in Starfield and honor the director’s life and significant other. Howard realized the gaming community is after the newest gaming experience and feels the weight of responsibility for revealing the next Elder Scrolls a few years too early.

The game director appeared in the Kinda Funny Games podcast as a guest where Greg Miller interviewed the director regarding the future of Bethesda Game Studios and how much gas Todd Howard has left in the tank and his answers are rather optimistic.

Todd Howard revealed he has no plans to retire from the game industry soon. During the podcast, the director hinted at the potential release window of the Shattered Space expansion for Starfield, his latest accomplishment, and his focus on delivering an expansion with the highest quality possible and giving the gaming community something worth remembering without compromising anything.

Greatness takes time and Elder Scrolls 6 will have to live up to the hype. With everything Howard has on his plate, it would be unwise to pump out as many games as possible without checking the quality. Releasing triple-A video games back-to-back is ideal but fans shouldn’t expect the greatest experience if the development phase is less than the usual time required.

Most games nowadays like Grand Theft Auto 6 have an astronomically high budget that takes years to perfect, and it is a testament to the game developers’ dedication. Howard is investing his time accordingly in providing each major aspect of a project with the right amount of attention.

The gaming community shouldn’t hold it against Howard or any game developer if they take all the time they need to complete a game. The result will be worth it and developers often think of how players would react if a game is released in an unfinished and broken state.

Great games require great time and there is no going around that. Developers can’t crunch to meet a deadline leading to the deterioration of their mental health, and Howard will not force his colleagues to do something dangerous.

Todd Howard is a man of the people and has shown no signs of slowing down in game development. Brighter days are ahead for Bethesda Game Studios knowing a compassionate and talented game designer like Howard is at the helm.
