“Mafia and GTA 6 in the same year is INSANE”: Barring Any Delays, 2025 Is Shaping Up To Be One of the Greatest Years For Game Releases

Following Gamescom 2024’s Opening Night Live, which revealed all kinds of updates about some of the most anticipated titles, everything points to next year being one of the best in gaming in the past decade.

The event confirmed several release dates, adding games like GTA 6, Mafia, Death Stranding 2, Borderlands 4, and many more to the already extensive lineup of titles coming in 2025. If none of these major gaming releases delay their dates beyond this year, it will likely become one to remember in the industry.

Borderlands 4, DOOM: The Dark Ages, and GTA 6 Are Just a Few of the Many Games Expected for 2025

Despite the anticipated scarcity of major titles in the first two quarters of this year, all rumors and trailers suggest a change for 2025.

Many of the most-awaited titles of the past few years will finally have their chance to release in 2025, making it one of the most significant in terms of launches. One of the most notable games will be the highly anticipated GTA 6.

Gamescom 2024 Opening Night Live took place yesterday, showcasing more games slated for release in 2025. Another attention-grabbing title was Borderlands 4, adding to a massive list of games set to come out that same year.

IPs such as Gears of War: E-Day, Fable, and Death Stranding 2, which fans have eagerly anticipated for years, are among them. It will be an exceptional game.

Franchises making a comeback after being hugely successful will make 2025 a year packed with an unprecedented number of releases in the industry.

Not only will Rockstar Games launch its flagship game, but PlayStation is also likely to have much more in store beyond the highly anticipated title from Hideo Kojima. With the addition of more games for next year, the possibilities seem increasingly promising.

Even franchises like Pokémon will make a return, along with Nintendo games like Metroid Prime 4, which, according to rumors, will also be available on the Switch 2, potentially launching in 2025.

All of these announcements are helping the industry regain some visibility after a lackluster 2024, which saw titles disappoint various communities in recent months. For now, this year still has a few big titles to offer.

With the recent release of Black Myth: Wukong and the upcoming Space Marine 2, there are still several highly anticipated games yet to arrive before the year ends. For example, Bandai Namco will also release the highly anticipated Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero in October.

Meanwhile, Activision will revive the Call of Duty franchise after Modern Warfare 3 didn’t meet fan expectations, with Black Ops 6 aiming to change that disappointing experience.
