Fortnite is the ever-popular battle royale known for its fast-paced close-quarters combat. To keep the game fresh, developers behind this immensely popular looter-shooter have many times gone out of the box to bring new mechanics and content to the evolving game. Unfortunately, at times, they get the thing wrong, which causes fan outrage.
One of the things introduced to Fortnite is shotgun scopes. These reminisce of Call of Duty’s standard tactical combat and feel like it doesn’t belong in Fortnite. With the frustration reaching its boiling point it is time for Fortnite to forget this lesson from Call of Duty and do its own thing.
Scopes Make Shotguns Useless in Fortnite
The inclusion of scopes on shotguns has divided the Fortnite community. Many players feel that the scopes disrupt the core gameplay and have expressed their frustration on social media.
One Reddit user has posed the question if he is the only one who hates this particular feature, saying that the addition doesn’t feel natural.

Not much time passed as fans started chiming in to express their frustration. One player has said that he would love to add a scope to a shotgun instead of finding a shotgun with scopes as loot.

Another player said that the gun is worse with a scope, while another one has said that he is avoiding blue and purple shotguns and opting for green shotguns as the greens come without a scope.

Scopes are intended for long-range weapons, and shotguns are primarily used for close combat, and when mixing the two it makes no sense, which the community has already realized.
Scopes on Shotguns in Fortnite Should Be Optional
It is not a secret anymore that fans are dissatisfied with scopes on shotguns, and if developers won’t delete the option, according to the very same dissatisfied fans, they should make them optional or easily removable from shotguns.
Players who dislike scopes are already working on removing them from shotguns through modbenches, but they won’t a quicker way through an in-game menu.

Another one feels that scopes should affect the shotgun’s range so it makes them more useful. Despite some positivity, the overall feel of scopes on shotguns in the game is that scopes are dumb and shouldn’t be a thing.
The players don’t even use them on SMGs and snipers and there aren’t many useful additions. What developers should do is embrace the core of the game and make it fluid.
