“I genuinely don’t understand”: Fortnite’s Invisible Killer Bug Has Players Questioning Whether They’re Facing Hackers

Undoubtedly, Fortnite is currently one of the most popular games in the world. It started as a Battle Royale game and eventually evolved into a complete package, allowing players to play different game modes like Fortnite: Save the World, Fortnite Creative, Lego Fortnite, Rocket Racing, Fortnite Festival, and Fortnite Ballistic.

It’s still popular for its engaging battle royale mode. However, getting killed by an invisible player is certainly not a good experience. A player on social media shared a short clip, claiming that they were killed by a cheater who was invisible. At first glance, it looks like it was a cheater, but Epic Games’ response to the complaint tells a completely different story. It makes sense why the player thought it was a hacker since Fortnite is filled with modders and cheaters who exploit the game’s mechanics.

A Fortnite player has revealed on the r/FortNiteBR subreddit that they were killed by a cheater in the Battle Royale mode. In the short clip, it appears like an invisible player shot down the player in the unranked Zero Build mode.

All video games nowadays, battle royale games in particular, are filled with hackers and modders who ruin the gaming experience for everyone else. Many players have complained that the number of hackers has increased in this chapter of Fortnite, plus players believe that Epic Games isn’t doing anything to take them down.

Even Apex Legends, another popular battle royale game, is filled with hackers and cheaters, but EA made the bold decision to ban Linux support since most of the hackers were abusing the openness of the Linux operating system.

The hacker turned out to be an innocent player as this was a bug

Shortly after the post went viral on Reddit, many players criticized Epic Games’ anti-cheat system, but it turned out to be something much more embarrassing.

An Epic Games employee revealed that the player came across a rare bug that is causing some players to go invisible on the battlefield. It appears that Epic Games looked into the matter and concluded that the player was innocent and not a hacker. The employee assured players that Epic Games is working to resolve this problem.

Despite these setbacks, it appears like Fortnite‘s popularity is not dipping any time soon. Some wild collaborations have sparked controversies, but they only popularise the game even more. Recently, Epic Games made an attempt to take down games like Valorant and Counter-Strike 2 by rolling out its very own PvP round-based game mode. However, it is still far from being perfect.
