Forget About Grant Gustin’s CW Show, Even Injustice 2 Executed Flash vs Reverse Flash Fight to Perfection Something Ezra Miller’s The Flash Failed to Do With $200 Million Budget

In the realm of DC superheroes, where Batman and Joker’s rivalry has sparked excitement among fans through a myriad of iterations, similarly, even the clash between The Flash and Reverse Flash has been a topic of thrill for audiences. Well, who wouldn’t want to see a clash of speed, wit, and time-bending chaos?

Therefore, when Ezra Miller donned the red suit in The Flash, fans anticipated this cinematic thrill with breathtaking visuals. However, Andrés Muschietti doused fans’ excitement by avoiding the appearance of Reverse Flash in the film. Despite its $200M budget, the film failed to feature the super-speed heroics that even Grant Gustin’s CW show and the video game Injustice 2 executed flawlessly.

Ezra Miller’s The Flash Became a $200M Speeding Train Wreck

When it comes to superhero adaptations, one might think that bringing DC’s Flash to life would be a no-brainer. After all, we’ve seen it done successfully in various iterations—most notably in Grant Gustin’s CW series. Yet, here we stand, scratching our heads at Ezra Miller’s The Flash, a film that cost a staggering $200M (via The Numbers) but somehow managed to trip over its own shoelaces and faceplant into mediocrity.

Let’s start with the elephant in the room—the complete eradication of a Flash vs. Reverse Flash showdown in Andrés Muschietti’s movie. Despite Eobard Thawne aka Reverse-Flash/Professor Zoom, being a supervillain appearing in DC Comics, the 2023 iteration surprisingly deviated from the comics by excluding Barry Allen’s arch-rival as the killer of the superhero’s mother.

On a positive note, although it seemed like a missed opportunity, it is believed that leaving out Reverse Flash was a wise choice since it gave other villains a chance to shine. But of course, fans didn’t see it that way. For them, the rivalry between Flash and Reverse Flash is akin to peanut butter meeting jelly—essentially inevitable and deliciously important. Therefore, when Ezra Miller‘s movie avoided the showdown, the cinematic attempt felt like a soggy sandwich.

Grant Gustin’s Show and a Video Game Outshined the DC Movie

The lack of Flash vs Reverse Flash in Ezra Miller’s 2023 movie became an even more bitter memory when fans were reminded of how Grant Gustin‘s CW show and even the popular video game Injustice 2 delivered the sequence flawlessly. On a recent note, social media went abuzz with chaos surrounding how the video game mastered the flash-fueled showdown, something that Andrés Muschietti’s $200M project couldn’t achieve.

While Ezra Miller was busy running around in circles, Injustice 2 made netizens wonder how the multi-million dollar movie couldn’t manage to replicate what a video game studio achieved with a fraction of the budget and perhaps an espresso-fueled weekend.

To be fair, not just the video game, even Grant Gustin’s CW series managed to offer this thrilling fight sequences between Flash and Reverse Flash (Matt Letscher), in a live-action format in multiple episodes. Initially introducing the character as early as in season 1, The Flash series featured their ultimate battle in season 8 and 9. So what exactly stopped Ezra Miller’s movie from delivering the fan-favorite sequence? Well, it will probably remain a mystery for fans and a cautionary tale for future adaptations.
