August 6th is the Biggest Date in Diablo 4’s History as Season 5 Looks to Fix Season 4 Mess Up

Diablo 4 is getting one of its biggest updates on August 6th and fans are looking forward to it. The game is gearing up for a major overhaul with the launch of Season 5. One of the biggest changes coming to the upcoming update is a change to Unique items.

Previously overshadowed by Legendary items, with the changes in Season 4, Uniques will now have increased roll ranges and stats. This change is in the hopes of making them competitive again and restoring them to their build-defining status.

Blizzard revealed new details for Season 5 at the most recent Campfire Chat for Diablo 4, which is the game’s version of a developer livestream for an upcoming version.

In addition to improving Uniques, Blizzard is rebranding the “Uber” uniques, the rarest items in the game, as “Mythic Uniques.” This change comes with a new purple-loot color and unique visual and sound effects.

Season 5 will also introduce a new roguelite-inspired mode called Infernal Hordes, which challenges players with increasingly difficult waves of enemies.

Completing these waves will reward players with Burning Aether, which can be used to unlock new gear, including ten new Uniques specific to this gamemode.

This game mode could be what the game needs with Season 4’s ongoing issues with existing ones. Blizzard is also adding many new weapons for all classes to accommodate more diverse and customizable builds. For example, Sorcerers can now wield one-handed swords and maces.

Additionally, the weapons will be getting adjustments and updates to their innate affixes. This will broaden the choices for players and add to customization.

Additionally, 50 new Uniques and Legendaries are being added, with the best chance of obtaining them through the Infernal Hordes activity. This is part of the change that will make farming uniques and mythic uniques easier and hopefully less grindy.

Quality of Life and Other General Updates in Diablo 4 Season 5

Players will also be getting updates (some large) to quality of life. One of the more important QoL changes is the addition of a re-summonable boss altar.

This will allow players to replay bosses without resetting the entire dungeon. While the previous season started strong, there were some stumbles later on, and Season 5 aims to fix that

Other QoL changes, such as reduced time for completing Whisper bounties and the removal of certain summoning materials, aim to reduce unnecessary grinding.

Season 5’s public test realm (PTR) patch notes also reveal a number of new content and adjustments. This includes a new questline that continues the story post-main quest and the introduction of eight tiers of Compasses for accessing the Infernal Hordes.

The new questline and the new Infernal Hordes game mode will provide players with plenty of new content to explore and experience. The Infernal Hordes mode in particular has been implied to be an endgame activity.

As the PTR for Season 5 runs from June 25 till July 2, players can test these new features and provide feedback. And with these changes, Diablo 4’s upcoming season should be one to get hyped for. Do you agree? Let us know in the comments below!
