Hollywood star Mark Wahlberg has always been serious about fitness, whether it be what he is consuming or be it his fitness regimen. The actor, for years, has shocked us with his impressive chiseled body and the things he does to maintain himself that way.

At 53 years of age, when most male actors seem to have a slightly protruding belly and slow it down in the gym, the Shooter star seems to be still as active as ever. Recently, PEOPLE spotted him vacationing at the beaches in Barbados, showing off his ‘ultra-muscular’ physique.

Although the actor has yet to remark on what the reason for his peak physical condition is, for it might be because of a role, it seems he is following through with his commitment to living a healthier lifestyle. Furthermore, his jaw-dropping form might also be because of the fitness decision he made last year.

Given the top shape he is in right now, either Mark Wahlberg’s physique might be because of an unannounced project or because of the fitness changes he made last year. But either way, his new fitness regime seems to be working well for him after years of putting his body through extreme physical workouts and routines.

The actor used to wake up at 2:30 a.m. in the morning and grind daily to maintain his physique (via Men’s Journal). However, as he revealed last year to Fox News, his days no longer consist of a hardcore training schedule but instead are focused on sleep, recovery, and healing.

Eat right, exercise and rest, and you know what? You have to find balance. You don’t want to live a boot camp type of existence. You want to be able to go out, have fun, reward yourself for your hard work… I think finding a nice balance and a nice routine is the key.

Stating that he wants to “drag this beautiful thing called life for as long as possible,” Wahlberg has been focusing on getting stronger and healing instead of striving for aesthetics since last year. Now focused on ‘living’ and longevity, Wahlberg’s newest fitness regime, which also surprisingly includes cold plunges, has been working pretty well for him given his recent pictures.
