“We’re not thrilled about it either”: Valorant’s Controversial Price Change is a Defense Mechanism That Was a Long Time Coming for Riot’s Survival

Riot Games has announced that some changes will be made to the prices for virtual currency (RP, VP, LoR Coins, Wild Cores, etc) in all their video games, including Valorant. Some regions will remain unchanged, while some will have price increases or decreases to balance prices between different regions. This change will also help Riot Games to stop people who buy virtual currencies using a VPN in regions where they are cheap and sell it for profit in a region where the price is high. For some regions, the increase is significant but Riot Games believes that this change is necessary.

Riot Games Plans To Change The Virtual Currencies’ Price In Many Regions

Riot Games has revealed that on September 18th, the prices for virtual currencies across all its games (RP, VP, LoR Coins, Wild Cores, etc) will be adjusted on many regional servers to make sure that the prices are balanced everywhere in the world.

The studio has provided a complete list of the changes in different regions for virtual currency in Valorant, and as per the list, some countries like Ukraine have witnessed a massive surge. Riot Games stated,

We know that these changes are especially tough for players in regions with the largest increases, and we’re not thrilled about it either – Our hope is that by balancing currency values more consistently across regions, we can reduce the opportunities for exploitation and maintain fairness for everyone.

So, this step was necessary as Riot Games aims to reduce the manipulation in the system. This move will also support Riot Games financially, allowing them to generate more revenue through virtual currencies.

Riot Games is also adding new content to the game as the 26th agent of Valorant is here and she has some exceptional abilities that can instill fear into your enemies. Vyse is the first Sentinel that has been added to the game since Deadlock, who was added in June 2023.

Valorant is one of the most popular video games in the world. The first-person tactical hero shooter was first released for PC in 2020. Finally, four years later, an Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 version was released.

The changes in the prices of VP are indeed disappointing but now is the right time to buy virtual currency in Valorant as Riot Games is offering extra bonus virtual currency on in-client purchases in regions where prices will be increasing. These bonuses will start on September 4th, 9:00 AM PST.
