First 3 Resident Evil Games and Breath of Fire IV Head to Steam With DRM
Capcom announced that the PC versions of Resident Evil, Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3 Nemesis , and Breath of Fire IV are now all available to buy via Steam, however all four games do feature DRM and require EULA consent. Previously, these games first appeared DRM-free on GOG. The Breath of Fire entry in particular was a GOG Dreamlist title .
Each of the three Resident Evil games and Breath of Fire IV use The Enigma Protector DRM for the Steam versions. All of the titles are the ones released as part of the GOG Preservation Program. As such, GOG is listed as a developer alongside Capcom on the Steam product pages. As such, the standard pricing is the same on both platforms.
However, there is a launch sale in effect for these new storefront releases of Resident Evil and Breath of Fire IV that isn’t mirrored on GOG. All of the games are temporarily 50% off. So instead of being $9.99, they are all $4.99 each . That sale ends on April 15, 2026.
The GOG Preservation versions of Resident Evil, Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, and Breath of Fire IV are all now available on PCs via both GOG and Steam, though on Steam Enigma DRM is present.

The First Three Resident Evil Titles And Breath Of Fire IV Are Now Available On Steam
You may not have believed it when Capcom announced the news yesterday on April Fool’s Day, but it has brought the original Resident Evil trilogy – Resident Evil, Resident Evil 2, and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis – to Steam. Capcom also tossed in Breath of Fire IV as a bonus. The announcement is the latest celebratory gesture for Resident Evil’s 30th anniversary this year. Each game features quality-of-life enhancements to support modern operating systems and current controllers. Other than these vague tweaks, these are very much the PS1 games you remember. The same goes for Breath of Fire IV, the 2000 RPG first released on the original PlayStation. You can purchase all four games for $9.99 each, and they’re currently on sale for 50 percent off ($4.99) as part of a special launch discount. Bandai Namco Making Resident Evil 2 Remake Arcade Game
Bandai Namco Experience announced that it will start doing location tests in Japan for its Biohazard RE:2 Arcade game booths, which is essentially Resident Evil 2 Remake Arcade , in mid-March 2026. It is planning to release the full versions of the title based on the console and PC release in Japan and Europe sometime in 2026, though there's no word on when we might see it in North America.
According to the press release, the arcade booths will feature gimmicks that make the experience more immersive. The gun will feel real (likely haptic feedback that emulates gun recoil), a vibrating floor, and compressed air that shoots out at the player. In a trailer for the game, we can see familiar enemies like Lickers and Mister X. The playable characters (Leon and Claire) can also pick up Green Herbs to restore their health, much like in the original title.
There are some differences between the Biohazard RE:2 Arcade arcade version of Resident Evil 2 Remake and the actual game, though. In the trailer, we can see Leon and Claire having to deal with Hunter Gammas. These guys debuted in Resident Evil 3: Nemesis (including the remake), so Leon and Claire never had to deal with them while in Raccoon City. There’s also a scene of both Leon and Claire going outside to meet Ada, even though Claire never did.
Here's the first trailer:

Resident Evil 2 Remake Arcade will appear in Japan in mid-March 2026 for a location test, and the full version will appear in Japanese and European arcades in 2026. Resident Evil 2 Remake is readily available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC.

Resident Evil’s Umbrella Corporation ‘Suing’ Nissin Over Cup Noodles
As part of Capcom’s Resident Evil Requiem promotions, the company shared a tweet on social media announcing that joked Umbrella Corporation, makers of Umbrella Noodles, is "suing" Nissin Foods over its Cup Noodles. The statement involves "IP infringement" case. As of time of writing, Nissin has yet to respond to the allegations or hinted at any kind of product tie-in. Capcom and Nintendo also released a Creator’s Voice video about the upcoming game . [Thanks, Inside Games !]
The announcement ended up accompanied by a screenshot designed to look like an in-game look at a discovered document. It noted that on February 24, 2026, the plaintiff Umbrella Corporation filed a case against Nissin Foods due to the likeness between Umbrella Noodles and Cup Noodles. In the replies, a user named Willmesis shared a screenshot from the Resident Evil 3 remake of Jill Valentine in front of an Umbrella Noodles advertisement to highlight the likeness between the two items.

The Cup Noodles and Umbrella Noodles “lawsuit” is the second unusual promotion to come up ahead of the launch of Resident Evil Requiem . Prior to that, Yume Group and S.Ride announced a piece of hanging fitness equipment that came with a copy of the game, referencing a part shown in which Grace is hanging upside-down.
Resident Evil Requiem will come to the Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam and Epic Game Store on February 27, 2026.
