Hilarious Overwatch 2 Clip Shows Lifeweaver Sending Mauga to 'Jail'

Highlights

  • Overwatch 2 fans were given the opportunity to play as the new tank character Mauga before his official debut in Season 8.
  • Lifeweaver's attempt to save a falling Mauga resulted in a hilarious glitch, causing him to get stuck under the map geometry.
  • The funny clip of Mauga trapped with only his head visible has become popular among Overwatch 2 players, with fans making funny comments about the situation.

During an Overwatch 2 match, a Lifeweaver attempts to pull Mauga back up to the map, though it accidentally causes the character to hilariously get stuck inside the map geometry. Recently, fans have been able to go hands on for a limited time with the newest Overwatch 2 character known as Mauga. The tank based hero was revealed in full at Blizzcon 2023, even though much of his kit was leaked weeks prior.

For most fans, the biggest reveal wasn't Mauga's Talon origin story, but the fact that Blizzard was making him available to use for a limited time. While technically not debuting until Season 8 arrives on December 5, Overwatch 2 players could test him out from November 3-5. Many players took advantage of this to put the new tank character through his paces, testing out what he could do, including one hilarious fail as one Overwatch 2 Mauga player thought they could use his ultimate ability to pull all enemies into ther pit on the Ilios map. However, as this player demonstrates, sometimes the game just doesn't work as well as it should.

Over on the Overwatch subReddit, a user named OVLange posted a short clip of their Mauga getting hilariously trapped under the map. During a normal Control match, Mauga was pushed off the side of the map and, while attempting to jump back to safety, a nearby Lifeweaver player used Life Grip to pull them back up. However, the pull seemingly bugged out and got stuck under the map geometry, depositing Mauga into what it thought was stable ground under a staircase. The Lifeweaver comes over to check on Mauga, who's head is really the only visible part within the staircase, though it isn't long before the enemy team catches up and Mauga is hilariously put out of his misery by a headshot from Hanzo.

The clip has quickly become a big hit among Overwatch 2 players, with many fans posting funny comments and puns in response to the situation. Most seemed to like the part where Mauga's head was the only part of the character that could be seen, with his expression neatly summarizing everything that had gone wrong for him in that moment.

Players have found another odd Overwatch 2 map glitch as of late, this time trapping players on the Colosseo map. A single piece of geometry on a specific part of the Colosseo map is seemingly trapping players who walk, jump, or use an ability on it, making them a very easy target for the enemy team. While virtually impossible to break out of, others have found that Lifeweaver, Mei, and Symmetra have abilities capable of freeing trapped players.
