Will GTA 6 be on Game Pass on day one?

GTA 6 is still more than a year away from release, but players have already started saving money to purchase the game. Meanwhile, Xbox players are wondering if they can play GTA 6 on the Game Pass subscription service.

Rockstar has suggested that GTA 6 prices may change due to the increased content and missions for players to enjoy. This means players should mentally prepare to shell out over $70 to enter the reimagined Vice City. However, with Xbox pushing Game Pass as a thriftier option for players by adding titles like Black Ops 6 on launch day, fans were hopeful that GTA 6 would follow course.

That would mean players won’t have to pay the total premium price for GTA 6. Instead, they could enjoy it on day one, along with other Game Pass titles. However, Rockstar has confirmed that it may not happen.

No, GTA 6 will not be available on Game Pass on day one.

In an interview with gamesindustry.biz, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick addressed services offering a major new release on subscription services on day one like Game Pass. According to the CEO, while it’s a lucrative model that could increase sales, it’s not GTA 6.

“I think that offering a frontline title with a premium price in a subscription service, day and date, will push consumers to that subscription service for at least a period of time,” Strauss Zelnick said. “No, it won’t affect our decisions because our decisions are rational.”

This means that players will have to pay the full amount upfront to enjoy GTA 6 when it is released in Fall 2025. However, Rockstar added some of its legacy titles to Game Pass years after its release. Patient players may be able to enjoy GTA 6 on Game Pass whenever Rockstar decides it is the right time for subscription service.
