“Sadly, Fortnite and our other games will be leaving…”: Fortnite Won’t Be Playable for Millions if Tim Sweeney Keeps to his Threat

Epic Games is eager to grow its player base on mobile devices, however, they have some new plans this time. Epic CEO, Tim Sweeney, has issued a statement explaining that they plan to bring their games, including Fortnite, to “other mobile stores that give all developers a great deal.

Sweeney has explained that Fortnite and many other games created by Epic Games will be removed from the Samsung Galaxy Store in protest of their new policy of blocking side-loading. This major decision will definitely cut their fanbase but Sweeney believes this removal is essential to support the developers.

Fortnite Will Be Removed From The Samsung Galaxy Store

In a recent X post, Epic Games CEO, Tim Sweeney, shared a blog post revealing that Epic is changing its approach to mobile gaming by bringing its games, including Fortnite, to independent mobile stores to provide developers a fair deal.

Sweeney further revealed that Fortnite and Epic’s other games will be removed from the Galaxy Store, due to which many players will not be able to play the game.

The reason behind this major decision is because of Samsung’s anticompetitive decision to block side-loading by default on its Android devices.

In the same blog post, it has been confirmed that Fortnite will be returning to iOS in the European Union soon. Epic has plans to release its games on independent mobile stores such as AltStore to support the developers.

Epic also plans to terminate distribution partnerships with mobile stores that serve as “rent collectors.” It’s no secret that Sweeney hates Apple and Google and we don’t really blame him. These two corporate giants take a 30% cut of the game’s revenue according to store policies.

Although many gamers are happy with Sweeney’s decision, others have criticized the studio for adding the Tesla Cybertruck to the game. The community has even asked players to destroy the Cybertruck on sight if it is spotted in any lobby.

The Cybertruck can be acquired for free by completing a series of in-game quests between now and 7th August. Once acquired, players can also use the vehicle in Rocket League.
