Fortnite Battle Royale tends to change quite drastically whenever there's a new chapter. The map isn't the only part of the game that suffers significant changes; named locations, weapons, items, and mechanics usually change quite a bit as well. Season OG brought Fortnite to its simpler roots, but it went back to a more complex game once it ended.
Chapter 5 Season 1 introduced fans to Society Medallions. They can be difficult to obtain at first, but they're extremely rewarding items when acquired. However, in order to balance this item, it has one negative effect. This guide will tell players everything they need to know about Society Medallions in Fortnite.
Chapter 5 Season 1 brought Society Medallions to Fortnite. These items make it possible for players who carry them to continuously regenerate their shield.
Society Medallions don't take up inventory space as there is a designated slot for them, just like building materials. Players can carry up to five Society Medallions, and this is actually beneficial as their effect stacks. Here is how much shield per tick players will be able to regenerate by carrying Society Medallions:
Number of Society Medallions (inventory) | Shield regeneration stats |
---|---|
1 or 2 Society Medallions | +3 Shield per tick |
3 Society Medallions | +6 Shield per tick |
4 or 5 Society Medallions | +8 Shield per tick |
Players can get Society Medallions in Fortnite by defeating bosses on the Battle Royale map. There are five Society Medallions in total, which means gamers will be able to fight a maximum of five bosses per match. The bosses are scattered throughout the island, and here is where players can find them:
Since Society Medallions provide such extremely beneficial perks, they have to have some sort of disadvantage in order to be considered a more balanced item. If a player picks up a Society Medallion in Fortnite, their location will be immediately revealed on the map, and all nearby enemies will be able to see the player's whereabouts.
Whenever gamers spot an orange circle on their mini-map in Fortnite that means that a player holding a Society Medallion is nearby. The more medallions in the player's inventory, the smaller the orange circle will be, making it easier for opponents to find the player's locations.
The Society Medallion works like a tracking device, so the only way to get rid of the orange circle is to leave it behind. Players can do this by opening their inventory, selecting it, and pressing the Drop button. Medallions also drop upon the player's death, meaning that enemies and teammates can pick it up.
