Fortnite’s OG Map Returns As A Permanent Mode

Epic Games is delivering on fans’ nostalgia with a permanent return to Fortnite’s iconic original map and loot, introducing a dedicated game mode set to launch on 6 December 2024. Known as Fortnite OG, this mode will allow players to journey through the game’s first 10 seasons over the next two years, experiencing everything from landmark map changes to memorable loot exactly as it was.

The excitement for a classic Fortnite experience has been brewing since 2023 when Epic ran a short-lived “Fortnite OG” mini-season featuring Chapter 1 content. Fans loved it—and so did Epic, who saw a player surge with over 44 million joining in just 24 hours. So, Epic is reviving this throwback adventure permanently, rotating Chapter 1’s seasons and live events like the iconic meteor impact and the erupting volcano that reshaped the map’s points of interest.

But Fortnite isn’t leaving its future behind. While OG mode dives into nostalgia, Chapter 6 will continue the battle royale’s new content, launching on 1 December 2024. Meanwhile, other games are also tapping into the past, with Apex Legends returning its first map and Overwatch: Classic revisiting its beloved 6v6 setup. It’s looks like a lot of games are getting a blast from the past.
