Are you a devoted fan of Fortnite's Save the World mode? Do you dream of taking it on the go with your trusty mobile device? Well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the chances of that happening are quite slim. The development of Save the World seems to have hit a roadblock, receiving significantly less attention than its immensely popular sibling, Battle Royale.
One disheartened commenter even went as far as to claim that Epic Games appears to have lost interest in Save the World, neglecting to update it regularly. Ouch! That must sting for all you dedicated Save the World players out there. However, let's not lose hope just yet.
Intriguingly, another comment sheds some light on the technical challenges involved in bringing Save the World to mobile. You see, Fortnite's development journey began way back in 2011 on Unreal Engine 3, while Battle Royale was built on Unreal Engine 4. And to make matters even more complex, the Lego Fortnite game was created on Unreal Engine 5. That's three different game engines! Quite a daunting task, to say the least.
Porting code from one game engine to another is usually feasible, but going back two generations? That's an extraordinary challenge. It might require scrapping entire sections of the game and starting from scratch. Considering that Save the World has never been the cash cow of Fortnite and the development team has been downsized, it's highly unlikely that the necessary resources will be allocated to make it happen.
But let's not lose sight of the bright side. We can still enjoy Save the World on current-gen consoles, and that's definitely something to be grateful for. So, while the mobile version may not be on the horizon anytime soon, at least we can immerse ourselves in the thrilling gameplay on our trusty consoles and PCs.
