The Adamantine shield provides excellent protection for the party, especially for the healer. It can be obtained from the Last Light Inn trader early in Act 2. Additionally, the Sentinel Shield from Moonrise Tower's Lann Tarv adds initiative, making it a valuable option. However, there is currently a bug with shields, and the Shield Bash reaction does not work. This may be a factor in your decision to craft the Adamantine shield.

On the other hand, the heavy splint armor is a good option for the party member who uses Laezel or the future reclass. It provides high protection and is classified as heavy armor, which means only a couple of party members can use it. The grym helm also provides protection from crits and is classified as heavy armor. However, the heavy splint armor is not as valuable as the Adamantine armor, and it may not be as appealing to non-fighter, paladin, or tempest/war cleric characters.

If you decide not to craft either the Adamantine shield or heavy splint armor, you will quickly find better armor, and the protection from crits that the shield provides is incredibly powerful. The player may also consider the grym helm as an alternative to the heavy splint armor.

Ultimately, the decision of whether to craft the Adamantine shield or heavy splint armor will depend on your preferences and the needs of your party. Consider the strengths and weaknesses of each option and choose the one that best fits your playstyle and party composition.
