Batman: Arkham Origins is one of the few AAA Christmas video games available, and it takes place over one very long Christmas Eve. Even though there are many video games with Christmas-themed levels, very few of them are fully focused on the holiday.
Batman: Arkham Origins is a great game to play again over the holidays, with a snow-covered Gotham City as the backdrop and several villains competing for the opportunity to kill Batman.
Using the same city template as Batman: Arkham City but with a snowy makeover, Batman: Arkham Origins was created by WB Games Montreal and served as a prequel to Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham Asylum.
This is comparable to how Insomniac’s Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is set in the same New York as Marvel’s Spider-Man, but with a different Christmas theme. However, another studio wasn’t in charge of that film.
There is still much to enjoy in WB Games’ Gotham, even though Batman: Arkham Origins is frequently regarded as the weaker game among all the great titles in the Batman: Arkham series. However, the tag for the weakest game in this long-hailed franchise now might be sealed for Batman: Arkham Shadow.
Numerous antagonists from Batman’s Rogue Gallery, including adversaries like Electrocutioner and Copperhead who typically don’t get much screen time, are featured in Origins. Fans praised new features like the ability to travel quickly throughout Gotham City, and Troy Baker’s portrayal of The Joker is particularly strong. That is why the Joker itself needs a spin-off title to save the dying franchise.
This game is even better than Hitman Blood Origins, Saints Row 4 and many more if you are talking about Christmas-themed games. The entire plot of Batman: Arkham Origins takes place around Christmas.
The world and every location are decked out for Christmas, and the Joker’s theme music is mixed with a version of Carol of the Bells, though this isn’t necessarily the game’s central theme.
Batman isn’t able to enjoy the Christmas spirit because he has a multi-million dollar bounty on his head and is constantly being pursued by assassins. Similar to Die Hard, the game has little to do with Christmas, despite the fact that it is set during that season.
However, aside from Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, there aren’t many games that allow players to act like superheroes in the snow, so that’s at least something. Even the site where Batman’s parents were killed is open for players to visit.
As Christmas is almost here, there is no better time than this to revisit this outstanding title amidst the snowy dark secrets of Arkham City.
