Riot Games Announces League Of Legends Championship Pacific

First announced on LoL Esports: Building Towards A Brighter Future back in June 2024, Riot Games revealed that a brand new multi-region league is coming to Asia-Pacific in 2025. And with Worlds 2024 ongoing as we speak, they have shared its official name, League of Legends Championship Pacific (LCP).

The league is poised to make LoL Esports and organizations more sustainable while showcasing the best talent, diverse matchups, and fresh rivalries across the region. Fans can look forward to an exciting new way to support their favourite teams and players as we introduce regular inter-regional competitions aimed at enhancing the competitive strength of all teams.

Inter-regional rivalries have already proven to be fiercely competitive, as is evident from the PCS ecosystem, and the LCP will provide a platform for the competition to continue growing.

Asia-Pacific Ecosystem

The LCP will serve as a top-tier regional competition as part of the Asia-Pacific ecosystem and is set to be the only route for teams within the region to qualify for global events next year.

Sitting just below the LCP will be the Pacific Championship Series (PCS), the Vietnam Championship Series (VCS) and the League of Legends Japan League (LJL). They will continue operations domestically in search of the best teams to compete for a Guest spot through the promotion and relegation tournament. More details on that tournament will come soon.

By creating a path between the LCP and the domestic leagues, we want to highlight the talent and enable the ambitions of teams and players throughout the region. In the future, we aim to give wider access to the LCP by expanding the ecosystem beyond the existing domestic leagues and keeping the competition diverse and dynamic.

Teams & Format To Come

The LCP is set to redefine LoL Esports in the Asia Pacific region, and there will be more exciting updates including teams and format information in the future. For now, you can check out our schedule and results feature on Worlds 2024, where teams like PSG Talon from the PCS and GAM Esports from the VCS have made it to the Swiss Stage.
