Apex Legends Pro Lists Three Changes to Make the Game Great Once Again but Fans Are Having None of It

Apex Legends has been one of the best battle royale-hero shooters for years, with a vibrant competitive scene and a community that remains dedicated to the game’s dynamic gameplay. Players have continued to shape the game’s direction through their valuable feedback, but whether Respawn is listening or not is up in the air.

Recently, ImperialHal, a pro player for the Falcons team, shared his thoughts on what changes would help make the game great again, listing three key adjustments he believes would benefit the game. However, his suggestions have not been met with the kind of enthusiasm he may have hoped for, sparking backlash from a portion of the community.

The three key changes in Apex Legends suggested by ImperialHal

The first change ImperialHal proposed was the return of Season 13’s ranked system, praising the balance of the matchmaking system. He highlighted how the points system and the greater emphasis on team coordination helped make the ranked mode more rewarding for players.

The second suggestion was the reintroduction of Horizon in her “prime” state. What he means by this is that when Horizon was first introduced, she was one of the best legends to play. But as the seasons went by, she received various nerfs and balance changes, which toned down her abilities.

He believes that bringing Horizon back to her peak strength would reinvigorate her character. This would allow Horizon to become a key pick in both competitive and ranked matches once again, bringing back players and increasing diversity in gameplay.

Lastly, he suggested that the developers increase the aim assist for controller players to 0.4, a slight buff. He feels that increasing aim assist would create a more balanced experience for controller players in high-stakes matches.

Despite ImperialHal’s respected status in the competitive scene, his recent suggestions have stirred controversy. While there are certainly players who agree with him, the overwhelming response has been one of skepticism and, in some cases, outright rejection.

Are these changes actually helpful?

As a professional player, an added challenge with the reintroduction of the Season 13 ranked system would be enjoyable for ImperialHal, but the grind-heavy nature of that system and its skill-based matchmaking could cause frustration within the community.

If Respawn were to reintroduce this system, it could risk alienating players who have adapted to the changes made in subsequent seasons. Additionally, if Respawn were to make this change, it could further upset the balance of the current ranked mode, which some players have come to enjoy.

While increasing aim assist may benefit controller players, many mouse-and-keyboard users already believe that aim assist provides an unfair advantage. So, further increasing it may not be well-received by the community.

In the end, ImperialHal may have offered these suggestions for the betterment of the game, but the community has expressed concerns that implementing some of them could result in a stale or imbalanced meta.
