In the last couple of months, there’s one agent in Valorant that has caused havoc and frustration among the players: Neon. Players have been begging Riot Games to nerf the agent, as it’s absolutely busted in its current state.
Thankfully, we don’t need to wait any longer, as one of the game designers has revealed that Neon will finally be nerfed with the upcoming patch. However, many in the community fear that the agent could fall into the abyss, just like Chamber after he was nerfed to oblivion.
Valorant players have caused a massive outrage within the last couple of weeks as they believe Neon is simply too overpowered. Many couldn’t help but wonder if Riot will bring the much-needed nerfs for the character before VCT 2025. It seems like we don’t need to wait for a confirmation.
On Twitter/X, penguinVALORANT, one of the game designers for Valorant, responded to the post dealing with Patch 9.0.9 and stated that Neon nerfs are on the way.
The last time Neon saw changes was in Patch 8.11 back in June 2024. This update brought various changes for all Duelists in the game. The change for Neon was that she had no movement errors with weapons while sliding, which always made her first shot accurate. In the next patch, we can expect to see her sliding bullet accuracy being nerfed.
However, Neon’s nerf might be the Chamber situation all over again. If you’ve forgotten, Chamber was extremely broken upon release. However, after the community outrage, the character was heavily nerfed, and all of his unique abilities were snatched away. This raises a concern for Neon as well because the no-movement error buff made her relevant again in the first place.
Many believe that the way to deal with Neon is by nerfing her 100% accuracy while using shotgun and sniper rifles.
Let’s hope that the developers doesn’t heavily nerf Neon and make her useless all over again. Seriously, the buffs made her quite fun to play around with. Even though she’s busted, all her kit needs is slight adjustments. Not heavy nerfs that make players never want to choose for matches.
Valorant‘s Patch 9.11 is expected to drop on December 10, 2024. That date is still a month away, and if you’re finding Neon a menace in your games, there are multiple ways through which you can effectively shut her down.
One of the best ways to deal with Neon is by holding corners. This will reduce her space to slide down and pressure her to make a move with regular speed upon reaching the corner.
If you give Neon enough space to slide, then be prepared to spectate the rest of the ground. Make sure you’re holding a Bucky or Judge because you’ll only have two chances of taking her down, and these shotguns are the most effective weapons when dealing with her.
Another great way to counter Neon is by using Cypher’s tripwires. Unlike Jett, she has no way to escape the tripwires of the Sentinel. It doesn’t matter how fast she dashes; she’ll eventually get caught in them. Even Vyse’s Razorvine can work against Neon.
With that said, how do you think Riot should nerf Neon? Let us know in the comments below.
