Leviatán strengthens roster with Valorant star Demon1

A new chapter has begun for Leviatán Esports with the signing of Max “Demon1” Mazanov, the 2023 Valorant Champions winner. The 22-year-old American, who previously played for Evil Geniuses and NRG Esports, now joins the powerhouse roster of Leviatán as they gear up for the VCT 2025 season. His addition marks a major shift for the Argentinian squad, which aims to further strengthen its championship ambitions.

Demon1 – Road to redemption

Demon1 in a Valorant tournament

Demon1’s signing to Leviatán comes after a rocky season with NRG Esports in 2024. After a highly anticipated transfer from Evil Geniuses, where he achieved significant success, Demon1’s time with NRG was less fruitful. The team failed to live up to expectations, missing playoffs in the VCT Americas Stage One, and making an early exit from the Kickoff event. These setbacks led to Demon1 being benched for most of the season, spending time streaming while waiting for another chance to shine.

Now, with his return to the server with Leviatán, Demon1 is looking for redemption. He reunites with former Evil Geniuses teammate Corbin “C0M” Lee, with whom he shared the 2023 Valorant Champions title, and joins a Leviatán squad that already boasts major talent, including Erick “aspas” Santos.

Leviatán’s rising expectations

Leviatán’s 2024 season was one of growth and progress. Despite struggling in the early stages, the team managed to turn things around. They won VCT Americas Stage 2 and placed among the top three teams at Valorant Champions 2024. With Demon1’s signing, Leviatán’s roster is shaping up to be one of the most formidable in the upcoming 2025 season. As it stands, Leviatán’s roster is as follows:

  • Francisco “kiNgg” Aravena
  • Erick “aspas” Santos
  • Ian “tex” Botsch
  • Corbin “C0M” Lee
  • Max “Demon1” Mazanov

With three world champions, Demon1, C0M, and aspas, the blue roster is expected to be a serious contender.

What lies ahead for Demon1 and Leviatan?

While Demon1’s individual skill is undeniable, his previous experience with NRG Esports serves as a reminder that even super rosters can falter under pressure. Leviatán will need to ensure that team synergy and strategic cohesion are maintained with Demon1 on board. If they are to meet those, Leviatán can surpass the high expectations that come with these big signings. Fans will be eagerly waiting to see whether this new, stacked roster with Demon1, can achieve the ultimate goal and bring another championship title home.
