There has been a lot of discussion over Chamber being a pretend duelist agent in Valorant simply because this Sentinel agent does his job in a way that is different from other sentinels in the game. Over the years, Riot Games has rolled out various updates to nerf Chamber to make sure people stop using it as a duelist.
The popularity of the agent has dipped, but with the latest Patch 9.05, Riot Games buffed Chamber by improving his Rendezvous ability. If Riot Games wants people to use Chamber as Sentinel, it also needs to focus on his Trademark ability.
Riot has rolled out Patch 9.05 for Valorant and this update made changes to three agents: Omen, Chamber, and Astra. The changes to Omen were just some voice lines, but the major changes were made to Chamber and Astra.
The TP radius of Chamber’s Rendezvous ability has been increased from 13m to 18m. More space around Chamber’s Rendezvous beacon will allow players to create more setups and push out more aggressively.
Astra’s stars have been increased from 4 to 5. The changes that were made to Astra in Patch 7.04 made her quite underpowered. This small change will make her quite useful once again. A lot of other technical changes were also made to maps and weapons.
At one point, Chamber became a pseudo-duelist in Valorant because of his duelist-like abilities. Riot mercilessly nerfed the agent, instantly killing his popularity among the community.
To make Chamber a good, balanced Sentinel agent, Riot also needs to focus on his Trademark ability. This ability should have a wider range or no range at all as this defeats the trademark’s purpose of defending sites.
Judging by the latest patch, it seems like Riot Games is slowly making changes to Chamber to make him a good Sentinel agent. People often argue that Chamber is a duelist, but this makes no sense as a duelist’s job is to provide entry and make space for the team, but Chamber’s abilities just don’t allow him to take a duelist’s role.
Chamber’s nerf isn’t even as bad as Reyna’s, as she went from being the best duelist in the game to the worst in just one single update. Riot Games has to make changes to certain agents depending on the community’s feedback, but if it wishes to see more people using Chamber as a Sentinel, it needs to rework his Trademark ability.
