“Everything I wanted Starfield to be”: Ubisoft Has Bethesda Beat at Its Own Game as Star Wars Outlaws Ends up Receiving Sudden Post-launch Love

Starfield was the crown jewel of Bethesda Game Studios and the gaming community had high expectations for the project. Unfortunately, the players set their expectations a little too high and the developers could have done more to improve certain areas to make the game live up to the hype.

Immersion is important for an open-world game, let alone one that features countless others. Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment had the advantage of working with the vast lore of the Star Wars franchise and providing the fans with a new perspective without directly relying on other adjacent projects.

Starfield Could’ve Done a Little Better With the Visuals and Offered a Much More Immersive Experience

The developers of Bethesda Game Studios spent years working on this ambitious project that tackles space exploration and otherworldly concepts. The Xbox community was proud to have a high-quality first-party exclusive in its library; however, odds are that Starfield will likely be ported to rival platforms like the PlayStation 5 and run better than the native console.

One player recently played the latest open-world Star Wars game by Massive Entertainment and found what they wanted to see in Starfield. The irony is that both games are practically set in space, and each respective studio showed their strengths through their depiction.

The fan pointed out that in Outlaws, players can seamlessly travel from one planet to the next without fading to black, but the clouds act as hidden loading screens. Through the Creation Kit, the Bethesda modding community took it upon itself to add what the developers could not, which is interplanetary travel and a testament to the fans’ talent and dedication.

Other players suggested the game could have benefitted from an airlock feature. This mechanic would allow players to openly explore the vastness of space in their suits while tethered to a space shuttle to roam around freely and gain an immersive experience that perfectly captures the ambiance of space.

Despite All the Flaws, Star Wars Outlaws Managed to Get a Few Things Right

The reception for this ambitious and original Star Wars tale has been mixed for the most part. The game is vast and plagued with many bugs and other performance issues; however, the developers included several little Easter eggs, like the Mandalorian’s Phase-Pulse Short Rifle, for Kay to acquire and use against enemies, and bridge the connection between projects.

Despite all the noticeable problems, the fan pointed out the game’s environment was rich and more detailed. Ubisoft ensured this original project would not have any dead air and dull moments to keep the gaming community immersed and engrossed in the world they set foot in.

The game was said to be much more engaging and players could drift away from the main path for a while and experience fun little side activities the developers added. The Star Wars lore is rich and vast enough for Massive Entertainment to explore and give the community an unforgettable experience.

Hopefully, the success of Star Wars Outlaws will encourage the developers of Bethesda Game Studios to make the necessary changes and improvements to Starfield. Perhaps the Shattered Space expansion will somehow be influenced by what Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment achieved.
