GTA 6 Still Set For 2025 As Take-Two Confirms Fall Release Plan

Grand Theft Auto 6, the highly anticipated entry from Rockstar Games, is still slated for a fall 2025 release, according to publisher Take-Two’s latest update. During their recent financial report, Take-Two reiterated that the launch remains on track, even after refining the release window earlier this year.

The game’s December 2023 teaser trailer shattered records, amassing over 100 million views within two days—a view count surpassing the lifetime performance of GTA 5’s debut trailer and cementing it as one of YouTube’s most-watched gaming previews.

In a CNBC interview, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick shed light on the delicate balance of timing a major release.

“There are elements that you can actually measure, for example the number of bugs in a title, and every one of us will make sure we have as few bugs as possible before we launch. However, in the case of an extraordinary title, for which there are extraordinary expectations, it’s not really about bugs, it’s about creating an experience that no one’s seen before, and Rockstar Games seeks perfection in what they do. And perfection is indeed hard to measure, it really is more subjective than objective.”

Rockstar has previously delayed games, so Zelnick was asked how confident he felt in this timeline. Acknowledging the industry’s frequent shifts, he replied,

“Well, there is slippage in the industry and we’re not immune from that. However, we narrowed the timing because we are highly confident in that timing”
