Genshin Impact: How To Clean The Root Consuming Tumor (Within The Depths Of Erinnyes Quest Walkthrough)

Within the Depths of Erinnyes is the last quest in the World Quest series, The Wild Fairy of Erinnyes, a new quest that just dropped into the new region of Fontaine, the Erinnyes Forest in Genshin Impact.

The main quest takes the Traveler and Paimon on a quest around the Erinnyes Forest, Weeping Willow, Foggy Forest Path, and Loch Urania with a mysterious Melusine known as Pahsiv.

How To Start Within The Depths Of Erinnyes

To trigger this Genshin Impact quest, Travelers will have to head east from the Marcotte Station Teleport Waypoint towards the blue quest marker at the fountain. After activating the quest, players will then proceed to look for the Teardrop Keys within three areas to help unlock the Fountain. Players will have to complete the following sub-quests to gain access to this last quest:

• Foggy Forest Path,
• Wilting Weeping Willow
• Furious Mouth of the Spring

The last quest will automatically unlock after completing the third quest, Furious Mouth of the Spring, and Travelers will have to head back to Marcotte Station. After obtaining all the Teardrop Keys, there will be a cutscene that plays where Pahsiv asks the Traveler to place the Keys in the fountain.

Travelers can then proceed to place each of the Teardrop Keys in each statue, as there is no specific order required. After this is completed, there will be another cutscene, and players will be asked to drop into the passage beneath the fountain. The water will lower, and the secret passage will be accessible.

There is water lower into the passage, and Travelers need only dive into it and head straight to the bottom. An indicator that players can look out for is the underwater portal and Luxurious Chest that will be placed next to it.

Players should remember to obtain the chest before heading into the portal. However, if some Travelers forget, they can always head back to get it.

After heading through the portal, players will be led through the current into a new area with a Teleport Waypoint. They can then unlock the Waypoint and head deeper into the roots of the Weeping Willow.

Cleansing The Filth Near The Roots

After the cutscene, Travelers will then have to cleanse the filth accumulating on the roots of the Weeping Willow. This can be done by taking out the Root Consuming Tumor. It would be beneficial to note that there are a few Rifthounds lurking in the area, so getting rid of them first before tackling the root would lessen any distractions.

Travelers will need to first clear the Contaminated Bacterial Mats surrounding the area before they begin to get rid of the tumor. There will be a Ball Octopus ability in the vicinity that players can use to get rid of them. Once all the Contaminated Bacterial Mats are eliminated, Travelers can then proceed to attack the main Tumor with it as well.

However, after reaching a certain percentage in HP, there will be an extra onslaught of Contaminated Bacterial Mats. Pahsiv will join the fight by increasing the Traveler's ability, and players will be able to destroy multiple Bacterial Mats at once. Players should remember that dodging can be a little tough, as one cannot predict the movements of the Bacterial Mats. Instead, players can choose to bring shield characters with them so that they do not lose a significant amount of HP.

Once all the Bacterial Mats are gone, Travelers can then target the Tumor and cleanse it until it ultimately disappears.

Beat The Rifthounds

After cleaning the Tumor, a cutscene will play wherein Paimon, the Traveler, and Pahsiv discuss the details surrounding the cleansing of the root. However, in the midst of their conversation, an arcane formation will appear beneath their feet and trigger an onslaught of Rifthounds.

Players should note that the Rifthounds will appear in four waves, and even though Pahsiv’s Vishap joins the battle to help, it cannot do as much damage. Travelers are free to take any character in their lineup. However, they should remember the Corrosion effect that Rifthounds continuously apply on their enemies. Using healers such as Sangonomiya Kokomi, Kuki Shinobu, Bennett, Barbara or Diona can help during this fight.

Travelers will have to keep defeating the Rifthounds until they stop appearing and another cutscene plays.

Follow The Current

The cutscene will eventually lead to the Traveler following a current out from underneath the Weeping Willow and towards the surface. Players will then engage in a small chat with Pahsiv again, who will offer the Traveler a handful of chests and money bags.

How To Unlock Pahsiv’s Shop

Now that the Within the Depths of Erinnyes quest has been completed, players gain access to Pahsiv’s shop. This mysterious Melusine sells a variety of Fontainian goods in exchange for Tidalga. Travelers can find Pahsiv in a small cave, north of Loch Urania. Players should also note that items in this shop do not refresh and are only a one-time purchase.
