Epic Games has officially announced that Fortnite OG is finally returning permanently after the love it received last year, and it’s releasing on Friday, December 6, 2024.
Last year, Epic acknowledged the standing ovation Fortnite OG received, as it exceeded their expectations. So much so that on a cheeky post on X in late 2023, they decided that they were going to bring it back in 2024. Now that time has arrived, as yesterday they announced Fortnite OG is returning permanently in December, which luckily is not a long wait.
THIS. IS. NOT. A. DRILL.
OG is coming BACK and is here to stay. Relive Battle Royale from the start and explore the OG map, collect OG loot, and relive OG seasons. Drop back in on December 6. pic.twitter.com/Zpg1CrItS5

In this mode, players can dive straight into the original map, with its nostalgic loot pile, while reliving the multiple OG seasons. Known leaker HYPEX revealed on X that Fortnite OG will be supported in both the iconic Build Mode and Zero Build, allowing players to experience the upcoming mode according to their preferred playstyle. According to HYPEX, the OG seasons will also return monthly, from Season 1 through Season 10.
To add to the hype, HYPEX also acknowledged on X that the Fortnite OG announcement from Fortnite has received over 100 million views across all platforms with millions of likes. Due to the love Fortnite OG received in 2023, there is no question that this new mode will receive millions of players on launch, similar to Fortnite Reload earlier this year. So those looking to jump into the OG experience the second it launches might need to open Fortnite earlier as there could be a possible queue. Although HYPEX is a known leaker for Fortnite content, players should take this information with a grain of salt.
