Fan Favourite Fortnite OG Is Returning Forever This Winter
On Tuesday, Epic Games officially announced the previously limited Fortnite OG season will be returning permanently this Winter.
Fortnite and Epic Games are bringing it back like it’s 2017 by returning Fortnite OG to the playlists for good this Winter. The throwback Fortnite OG (initially first launched in November 2023) brings back the original Battle Royale island, and it will become a permanent fixture of the game starting on December 6th. The November 2023 seasonal, limited release was designed to specifically hone in on the nostalgia of 2017 players, and it worked, seeing the title have one of its biggest months since 2017. The initial announcement made on the official Fortnite X (formerly Twitter) account can be seen below.
After rumours ran rampant earlier this month, it has now been officially confirmed that Battle Royale will be reverting to its most primal state when Fortnite OG launches and fans who were hoping for Epic Games to bring back Tilted Towers have had their prayers answered. After the initial run of Fortnite OG ended, Epic Games was quick to mention how the limited event “far exceeded our expectations. So much so that we’d like to bring it back.”
While Fortnite has made some huge quality-of-life changes lately, starting with a complete item shop change that brings back the rarest Fortnite skins on a rotational basis and continuing with adding new modes like ‘no build,’ the Epic Games juggernaut shows no signs of slowing down. Unsurprisingly, fans and other companies have posted under the X announcement applauding the decision.
The official X account for Axe Body Spray responded with “we’re so back” under the announcement, and users have flocked to share their excitement. Another user, TFHypeGuy said “My girlfriend gonna hate this,” in reference to the new announcement, referring to how the new OG will likely consume a large amount of their time.
Fans have less than a month until Fortnite OG takes over Battle Island again, so fans can play the current season which ends on November 30 while they wait.
