Despite Reviving Classics Like Master Chief, Fortnite to Likely Keep the Doors Locked on Travis Scott

Fortnite has been leading the charge of collaborations and crossovers with some of the biggest names in entertainment, ranging from iconic video game characters to real-world celebrities. It has become the ultimate digital playground where fans can experience exclusive skins and crossovers featuring their favorite heroes, celebrities, and iconic figures.

Recently, the game has stirred excitement with the return of fan-favorite skins, like the Master Chief from Halo, showing that Epic is willing to bring back some of its most popular collaborations. However, despite the ongoing trend of bringing back fan-favorite content, one collaboration likely won’t make a comeback: the Travis Scott skin.

Despite community demand, Travis Scott Skin won’t likely return to Fortnite

For those unfamiliar, Travis Scott’s skin was introduced in Fortnite in April 2020 as part of the game’s first-ever Astronomical event. Alongside the event, the game was also offered a set of exclusive cosmetics, including the highly coveted skin bundle.

At the time, the release of the skin was a huge moment, merging music and video games in a way that had never been done before. However, it was a limited-time release and once the concert event concluded, the skin was removed from the store, leaving it as a rare and highly sought-after cosmetic.

While the popular skins typically get reruns, his has not made a return since its removal. This is largely due to the fallout from the Astroworld Festival tragedy in November 2021, when a crowd surge during Scott’s concert in Houston, Texas, led to multiple deaths and injuries.

The incident sparked widespread media coverage and led to lawsuits, public outcry, and intense scrutiny of Scott’s role in the event. Although the skin was already gone from the store months earlier, the aftermath of the tragedy raised questions about whether the game would ever consider re-releasing the skin.

Even though Tim Sweeney, the CEO of Epic Games, stated in a Twitter reply (back in 2023) that the rapper is welcome in the game, it has been over 1700 days since the skin was last available in the item shop (it was released on April 22nd, 2020).

As time has passed, the skin has become a symbol of rarity and exclusivity within the community. Fans have become vocal about their desire to see the skin return, now with popular streamers like Kai Cenat and iShowSpeed among those leading the charge.

Can fans’ demand bring back the skin?

For years, fans have vocalized their desire for the return of the Travis Scott skin. However, recently the demand has gained extra momentum, thanks to two extremely popular streamers, Kai Cenat and iShowSpeed.

Both of these influential figures have publicly expressed their support for the skin’s return, raising the call for its comeback to a much larger audience. Their involvement has brought a fresh wave of attention to the issue, sparking hope among fans that there might be a glimmer of possibility for the skin’s return.

Still, despite the growing momentum, it’s unlikely that Fortnite will re-release the skin anytime soon. The tragic incident of the Astroworld event and the controversy surrounding the rapper’s post-Astroworld actions represent something that Epic Games seems ready to leave behind.

For now, it seems that the skin will remain one of the game’s rarest and most iconic cosmetics, locked away in the past. While popular streamers and the community remain vocal in their desire to see it reappear, Epic will likely keep the doors locked on this one.

In the end, for those who were lucky enough to have it in their collection, the skin will remain a rare and coveted piece of digital history, while others will have to accept that some things, no matter how much they’re asked for, may never return.
