Fortnite‘s latest game mode, Ballistic, is Epic Games’ attempt to dethrone other popular PvP, round-based shooters like Counter-Strike 2 and Valorant. However, it’s still not good enough to take down industry giants. The first-person experience, combined with Call of Duty‘s Search and Destroy-like gameplay has attracted gamers all over the world.
Fortnite‘s Ballistic will take a long time to steal Valorant and CS2‘s fanbase but it still has a lot of potential. Fortnite is better known for its battle royale game mode and Ballistic is just part of Epic Games’ plan to make Fortnite a universal game that offers experiences of all video game genres.
Last week, a brand new game mode called Ballistic was added to Fortnite. To many, it seems like Epic Games is trying to copy what’s trending. The game mode is still in early access, so it has some drawbacks, but its successful rollout proved that it has the potential to be better. It will have a tough time competing with games like Counter-Strike 2 and Valorant but it is still a good, impressive starting point.
The response to Ballistic was quite positive. In fact, it boosted the game’s active player count so much that the game was facing matchmaking issues within hours of release. It is certainly exciting to see Epic Games’ version of a 5v5, round-based PvP game mode but there are areas of improvement.
For now, the game is decent but with constant updates and features, it could become a popular game mode. This is just one of the game modes in Epic Games’ list of game modes for Fortnite as a new, unique experience was also added to the game shortly after Ballistic.
Apart from Ballistic, Epic Games added another game mode to Fortnite, Brick Life. Even this game mode seems like an attempt to replicate what trending video games are doing, as Brick Life offers a GTA Online-like experience within Lego Fortnite. This social roleplay experience will allow players to get into an online session with 31 other people and take on various jobs.
Like GTA Online, players can also carry out heists in this game. Using in-game money, players can purchase fancy houses to show off. The addition of these two new game modes has made Fortnite a complete package that fans of any genre can try out. Apart from Ballistic and Brick Life, Fortnite has the classic Battle Royale game mode, Save The World, Fortnite Creative, Lego Fortnite, Rocket Racing, and Fortnite Festival.
