Apex Legends players have been asking for cross-progression well before the game migrated to Steam and Switch.

Is there cross-progression in Apex Legends?

Yes, cross-progression is now available in Apex Legends on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. This means, for example, if you have an account on Xbox or PlayStation, you will be able to use this same account on the PC version, and vice-versa.

Cross-progression was added to Apex Legends at the start of Season 19, which began on October 31, 2023.

Players on PC could already link their account to Steam via the EA App and carry their progress over. Similarly, you could already carry your progress from previous console generations (e.g. PS4 to PS5).

Cross-progression took a very long time to come to Apex, but it’s finally here. Respawn said the reason for this is because it was “easier (to implement cross-progression) with Steam because it’s at launch,” unlike merging saves between Xbox and PlayStation accounts seeing as “users may have multiple accounts to merge or use,” according to former Game Director Chad Grenier.

Cross-progression is currently only available for Steam and Origin alone.

How does cross-progression work?

Cross-progression means that players with more than one account in Apex Legends are now offered the chance to merge their accounts in the game.

Merging accounts is mandatory, and the highest level account you own will be the ‘master account.’ Cosmetics and other items from your other accounts will be merged with this one.
