Fortnite’s Once Most Crowded Mode Has Been Begging for Reworks but Epic Games Just Won’t Touch It

Since Fortnite has made its way to the mainstream, especially from the moment it made a shift to battle royale from a co-op survival game, it has brought a revolution to the gaming world. With colorful maps and fun modes, Epic Games’ 2017 battle royale has won the hearts of all the players.

Every season, Epic Games brings something new for players, but for some reason, the team is completely indifferent to one game mode.

Veteran Fortnite players will easily recognize Team Rumble mode. It used to resemble the Team Deathmatch mode in Call of Duty. Initially, this mode was introduced in 2018, but at that time, it was a limited-time mode. Considering its quick popularity, in 2019, Team Rumble was introduced as a core game mode in Fortnite Season 9.

Epic Games Ruined Team Rumble With Some Frustrating Changes to the Storm

From the moment Team Rumble was introduced to Fortnite, it has created its fanbase because of its different gameplay style. It was a great option for those who were looking for a break from the usual battle royale mode. Here the map used to be divided into two halves for each team to explore a specific amount of area and collect weapons and equipment.

In this multiplayer mode, two teams used to have two different buses, and they dropped in different locations. The best part of the mode was players kept respawning upon death until one team reached the given elimination number. This mode was fun, and players generally used it to gather loads of XP by completing challenges and leveling up faster. It was easier there because of the respawn feature.

While Epic Games has designed a few game modes extremely well that other developers can take as examples to design similar modes in other games, it has ruined several modes, and Team Rumble is one of the best examples of that.

When this mode was at its peak with an average of almost 50k players every day grinding the game, Epic Games suddenly brought an update in Chapter 2 Season 7 where it implemented some changes to the storm circle and broke the entire mode.

Like the battle royale mode, before this update, in Team Rumble as well, the storm circle used to narrow the safe zones over time. However, with this update, the game begins with a storm circle that already covers half of the map. Along with that, mostly the safe zones are placed at the edge of the circle or sometimes in the circle.

After this change, completing quests also became tough as several of them used to be in the storm circle. Players were furious seeing this change to their beloved mode. Almost immediately, they started abandoning this mode, which means it has hardly 5k players on average presently.

What Fortnite Should Do to Fix Team Rumble and Make It the Mode That Players Used to Love

Since this downfall began, fans have been begging Epic Games to fix the game mode. The mode that used to be the most popular mode of the game has become the most isolated one with almost no one playing it. A little fixing will make things work again, but throughout the years, the team never really listened to this demand.

Even at a point where the American developer and game publisher company is bringing a 5v5 game mode to revive one of this decade-old shooter series, it’s not talking about Team Rumble. However, the fixes are not even complicated.

For example, fixing the speed of the storm will make things a lot easier for players. If the storm moves slower and covers the map in three phases, players will get enough time to collect weapons and ammo to survive.

Additionally, it must prevent the storm from moving from the beginning of the game. It must give players some time to land in a safe location. The map must have vehicles that players can use to avoid staying for a longer time in the storm circle in case they fail to reach the safe zone in time.

Another thing that Epic Games must consider if it wants to fix the mode is that health regeneration should be rapid. Players must start to regain their health soon after entering the safe zone.
