Best 2024 Halloween Game Events

Spooky

It's spooky season, and like usual, a number of video games are celebrating Halloween with in-game events. The full picture isn't clear just yet, but we're expecting more and more game developers to announce plans in the coming days.

For now, Halloween events are confirmed for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III and Warzone, along with Hello Kitty: Island Adventure. There have also been substantial rumors about the latest edition of Fortnite's Fortnitemares event.

Below, we run through some of the biggest, most notable Halloween events in video games, including dates on when these events run and what you can expect from them.

No need to worry, this gallery does not contain any jump-scares.

Call of Duty

Call of Duty's popular The Haunting event returns in 2024, headlined by horror icon Michael Myers returning to the game. The Haunting began on September 18 and runs through the Halloween season.

During the event, players can purchase playable characters and DLC bundles based on scary people like Michael Myers and Art the Clown from the Terrifier movie series, along with a DLC bundle that turns Makarov and Valeria into smiling soldiers as part of a partnership with Paramount Pictures for Smile 2.

This is just a small sampling of what's available in The Haunting--check out GameSpot's The Haunting breakdown to learn more.

Hello Kitty: Island Adventure

Hello Kitty: Island Adventure might not sound like a spooky game, but through its live-service model, it's been updated for Halloween with what's called a Spooky Celebration. It launched on September 27 and runs through Halloween, inviting players to style themselves and their creations with spooky outfits and decorations.

Fortnitemares rumors

Fortnite's annual Fortnitemares event is expected to return this year, though it hasn't been officially announced as of yet. If it's similar to previous years, fans can expect all manner of spooky licensed and original skins--a rumor for Fortnitemares 2024 suggests a crossover with the Saw franchise is in the works. Some Disney villains, including Maleficent and Cruella de Vil, have been confirmed to come to Fortnite this fall, and launching around Halloween would seem fitting.

More to come!

In 2023, games like Fall Guys, Overwatch 2, GTA Online, Destiny 2, Apex Legends, Dead By Daylight, Pokemon Go, and many others hosted their own Halloween events, so it's possible they'll come back this year. GameSpot will update this gallery with more details as announcements come through.
