CS 2 Armory Pass: Counter-Strike’s Latest Attempt At Having A Battle Pass Takes Inspiration After A Core Fortnite Mechanic

The latest update for Counter-Strike 2 brings a purchasable pass called Armory Pass through which gamers can earn Armory Credits that they can use to unlock different items, a concept that Epic Games has also applied to Fortnite as players earn Battle Stars as they finish the battle pass.

It’s not like a battle pass that we see in many video games nowadays, it’s an Armory Pass that will only give players Armory Credits, which players can then use in The Armory. The update also added Charms and reworked various gameplay elements related to inventory, animation, graphics, audio, network, maps, and workshop.

The Latest Update For Counter-Strike 2 Added The Armory

Valve’s Counter-Strike 2 now has a new unique addition called The Armory, which contains more than 100 new items: three new weapon collections, a new Weapons Case, stickers, and newly-added charms. In order to get items from The Armory, players need something called Armory Credits. Players with a Prime Status account can purchase and activate an Armory Pass, which is the only way to earn these credits.

Fortnite also allows players to earn Battle Stars. which they can then use to buy cosmetic items in the game. Almost every free-to-play game nowadays features a concept like this so Counter-Strike 2 getting this isn’t really surprising.

Each Armory Pass includes 40 credits. The first credit is earned immediately, while the remaining 39 can be earned through playtime. Keep in mind that Armory Passes and Armory Credits cannot be traded or sold on the Steam Community market. More information about The Armory is available on their official website.

Valve Has Also Added Weapons Charms To Counter-Strike 2

Weapon charms, which are very common in first-person shooter video games, were finally added to Counter-Strike 2 in the latest update. Stickers, nametags, and weapon finishes have been a part of the game but now players can put a charm anywhere on the weapon.

With this update, fans also get three new weapons collections: the Overpass Collection includes 16 weapon finishes from the Monster to the Biergarten, the colorful Graphic Collection that features 16 weapon finishes, and the Sport and Field Collection consisting of 16 weapon finishes.

If this wasn’t enough to convince you to head to The Armory, well, the Heat Treated Desert Eagle will. This limited edition item has a unique finish that will look good in your collection.

Maybe this new addition will convince fans that Counter-Strike 2 is worth playing. It’s no secret that the game is quite weak compared to its predecessors. Games like Counter Strike 1.6 cast a big shadow and it’s getting hard for CS2 to prove itself to be a worthy sequel. Players strongly believe that Valve now values profits over the classic Counter-Strike gaming experience.
