“She starts to untuck her shirt”: Sandra Bullock Ignored Her Dad to ‘Get Freaky’ With Hope Floats Co-Star for a Very Wild Reason

Sandra Bullock surprised her former co-star Harry Connick Jr. with her bold approach before the two shared the screen in the 1998 romantic comedy Hope Floats. And his anxiety grew after Sandra Bullock told him that the “other guy” he was up against was a “cowboy from Texas.” Given the role was that of a Texan cowboy, Connick Jr. no longer felt certain about getting the part. “There’s no way I’m gonna get it,” he recalled.

However, on their way back to Los Angeles, the Speed star invited him to join her on the private jet. And Connick Jr., still curious, pressed her for details about the other audition.

And Bullock told him, “Yeah, he was really good. He’s from Texas. He’s exactly what we’re looking for.” However, to the Find Me Falling star’s shock, Bullock started to untuck her shirt mid-conversation. He recalled,

She starts to untuck her shirt, and I’m thinking, ‘Okay, it’s not particularly warm in here.’ … What was really weird was that her father was actually on the flight too. This is as freaky as it gets.

Connick Jr. admitted being taken aback by her unexpected actions and shared that he was so surprised that for once he even reconsidered if he wanted to work with Bullock. But just as he was reeling, Bullock finally caught him off-guard by revealing the real news that he had landed the part.

Sandra Bullock’s Hilarious Way of Revealing Harry Connick Jr.’s Hope Floats Casting

Further reflecting on the memorable incident, Harry Connick Jr. shared, “You’re taking your clothes off in front of me on a private plane. Maybe I don’t want to work with you after all.”

However, he was surprised upon the eventual revelation of his casting in the movie. “She starts unbuttoning her shirt, and she starts raising her shirt up. On her stomach was written, ‘You got the part,'” he recalled.

Bullock and Connick Jr. have remained in touch even after over two decades of the movie’s release. “She’s just amazing,” the actor recently shared, as per People, and revealed that they “still keep in touch.”

She’s a very special person — I loved doing that movie with her and I loved everything about it, but coming away from that with her as a friend was definitely my favorite part.

Not just himself, Connick Jr. also shared that The Blind Side star also has a great relationship with his wife, Jill Goodacre Connick, with whom he shares three daughters.

Hope Floats is available to watch on  Disney+.
