A Reddit user by the username thetiniestlifeboat revealed that they've managed to unlock the Legacy Leader achievement, which is awarded to players that have ten households in the world that have been played for ten generations or more. It's an achievement that takes a lot of dedication to accomplish, as reaching ten generations with one family, much less ten of them, requires a lot of time invested due to the average lifespan of a Sim in The Sims 4.

The Sims 4 Players Try Out New Content Rather Than Focusing on One Family

Some players have pointed out that there is an achievement that delves into this aspect of gameplay even further. It's called the Alphabet Legacy and is achieved once players hit the 26th generation. This is something that would require quite the processing power, unless players use some of The Sims 4's mods to clean up their ghosts and help their hardware out. And even then, all that effort can still go to waste should an unexpected death occur.

This is why many players noted how bored they have become of their family by the third generation, and just go on to create a new one from scratch. After all, there is a plethora of content to try out, whether it's new The Sims 4 content added by Maxis, or self-imposed challenges that can vary from the mundane life of farming to setting up a lair of familial vampires.

As a cozy game, Simmers usually prefer to get up to shenanigans like having a dead Sim send condolences to themselves, rather than stick with one family for generations. On the other hand, the information about the existence of such a rare achievement, as many Simmers comment, is just the impetus they needed for the final push.
