Just like all games, Overwatch 2 has a bunch of easter eggs. Some of these are so well hidden and subtle that it took players almost nine years to realize that they’re linked to none other than the fan-favorite Genji.

Many maps in Overwatch 2 hide lore from certain characters, so it’s always crucial to keep an eye out for such things, especially if the character is related to the place. This takes gamers to Nepal, where Zenyatta lives. If you’re unaware, he mentored Genji after he became a cyborg and helped him come to peace with himself.

In the Village area of the Nepal map, between the point and a huge area where anyone can fall, there’s a room full of Genji’s belongings. Even though it’s been there for years, the majority of gamers still don’t know about this easter egg.

I never realized that room in Nepal is actually Genji’s room

In this room, you will come across a sword, a painting, and a photo of young Hanzo and Genji together. The fact that Genji still has a picture of him and his brother together is quite surprising, considering that Hanzo tried to kill him and left Genji on the brink of death. Despite all of this, Genji still cares about Hanzo and hopes that he will redeem himself.

It’s sad that Blizzard decided to cancel the PvE aspect of Overwatch 2. Otherwise, we could see more of Genji and Hanzo together and how they manage to overcome their bitter past and fight together to save the world.

It’s time for Blizzard to reconsider PvE mode in Overwatch 2

The major reason why Blizzard even decided to create Overwatch 2 was to bring PvE-focused content. However, the studio turned back on its promises and later stated that it was only going to focus on the PvP experience going forward.

There’s a new game in the town called Marvel Rivals. It has taken over the entire gaming industry by storm and is racking player numbers at a rate that we’ve never seen before. Why is it a success? Well, it takes everything best about Overwatch and makes it ten times more fun.

Even though Marvel Rivals doesn’t have a story-related MODE right now, if the game manages to hold its ground in 2025, developer NetEase Games would definitely consider giving it a shot.

This could prove to be a nightmare for Blizzard for Overwatch 2 as it would steal whatever is left of the hero-shooter’s player base. Alongside bringing various features that we’ve seen in Marvel Rivals, Overwatch 2 must also consider bringing a PvE campaign or increasing the frequency of PvE missions to play through.

As we’ve seen with the stories of Hanzo and Genji, gamers are still eager to dive into the lore of Overwatch, and PvE missions in 2025 would attract millions. Let’s hope Blizzard wakes up and realizes the potential its hero-shooter has.
