KRAFTON Is Helping Palworld Make The Big Jump To Mobile

Today, KRAFTON has signed a licensing agreement with Pocketpair to expand the Palworld IP to mobile devices.

Amid the ongoing Nintendo Patent lawsuit, Palworld continues to expand, and this time it’s into the mobile market. A new agreement was inked this morning between KRAFTON and Pocketpair “plans to faithfully reinterpret and implement the original’s main fun elements to fit the mobile environment” KRAFTON says. The mobile project will be helmed by the PUBG STUDIOS team, a creative developer that serves under the KRAFTON umbrella.

KRAFTON has had a busy month, with their decision to preserve Hi-Fi Rush developer Tango Gameworks without the notion of it being ‘another business decision’ after mass layoffs at Microsoft saw the development team being shut down. Krafton CEO Changan ’CH’ Kim then said “Tango Gameworks are creative. They want to try something new, and we want to do more of that” and this new move in collaboration with Pocketpair seems to continue that notion with their lightning-in-a-bottle Palworld.

This announcement has also been made despite the ongoing lawsuit between Nintendo, The Pokémon Company and Pocketpair. Nintendo and The Pokémon Company filed litigation against Pocketpair for patent infringement last month, as the statement from Nintendo reads, “This lawsuit seeks an injunction against infringement and compensation for damages on the grounds that Palworld, a game developed and released by the Defendant, infringes multiple patent rights.” So while KRAFTON hasn’t come out in support of Pocketpair in the crosshairs of the ongoing lawsuit, the company isn’t shying away from the prospect of a mobile Palworld despite the lawsuit.

Palworld Mobile

Palworld saw incredible success when it first launched last year, selling 15 million copies on Steam in just one month and maintaining the third-highest concurrent player base on Steam of all time dethroning the likes of big FPS hits like Counter-Strike 2, and GOTY Winner Baldur’s Gate 3. While not much else has been announced regarding the mobile port, fans should stay tuned for more information as it’s released regarding Palworld mobile.
