2020's Ghost of Tsushima from developer Sucker Punch is officially getting a sequel. Announced during September 24's State of Play, Ghost of Yōtei is in the works for PS5 and will launch in 2025.
The trailer doesn't detail much in terms of the game's story, instead focusing on beautiful-looking environments and a few moments of combat where we get to see the new ghost, Atsu, in action. Atsu seems to possess a similar skillset to Ghost of Tsushima's Jin when it comes to both swordplay and stealth, but the trailer also showcases that she has access to weapons that Jin didn't. Atsu is voiced by Erika Ishii, a skilled actor and producer who is portraying K in Misfits and Magic Season 2 and is one of the voices for Rook in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Ishii is known for their work as Valkyrie in Apex Legends, Ana Bray in Destiny 2, Dr. Wenjie Evans in Deathloop, and Ame in The Wizard, the Witch, and the Wild One.
In a PlayStation blog post, Sucker Punch communications manager Andrew Goldfarb wrote, "While we aren't diving into story specifics yet today, we can reveal that Atsu's journey takes place in 1603, more than 300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima. Our story is set in the lands surrounding Mount Yōtei, a towering peak in the heart of Ezo, an area of Japan known as Hokkaido in present day. In 1603, this area was outside the rule of Japan, and filled with sprawling grasslands, snowy tundras, and unexpected dangers. It's a far cry from the organized samurai clans who lived in Tsushima, and it's the setting for an original story we can't wait to tell."
