Rockstar’s GTA 6 Expected to Hit $1 Billion Pre-Sales Milestone

On Thursday, a financial report has been released regarding 2025’s most anticipated game, GTA 6, and the report says it will be successful to the tune of at least $1 Billion.

Grand Theft Auto VI (shortened to GTA 6) has been confirmed as 2025’s most anticipated game of the year according to the Game Awards 2024, and today a new report has come out suggesting the title has already made $1 Billion before fans have a concrete release date. The report comes out from The Financial Times titled ‘Grand Theft Auto VI is set to break records despite gaming slowdown’, and industry experts from DFC Intelligence estimates the next title in the Rockstar Games Grand Theft Auto series could see $1 Billion in just pre-orders alone. These estimates are still mild when the article continues and suggests the sixth entry in Grand Theft Auto could stand to make $3.2 Billion in the 12 months following launch.

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick told The Financial Times: “I never claim victory before it occurs. That said, I think Rockstar Games will once again deliver something absolutely phenomenal. Certainly, the anticipation is high,” referring to the high stakes for GTA 6.

In an interview with Conner Mather on YouTube, Zelnick also said: “We have the ability to invest over a long period of time to do something really spectacular, and it’s been that approach that really has led to our success,” suggesting that GTA 6 will be “worth waiting for.”

Somehow, the forecasted sales figures from The Financial Times are still more staggering when they’re brought up against the previous Grand Theft Auto V title, which brought in $1 Billion in the first three days of sales back in 2013, and GTA 6 stands to make that before day one. While many details surrounding Grand Theft Auto VI are still under wraps, fans have a TBD release date in 2025 to contend with, and the first trailer for GTA 6 can be seen here for now.
