This is a Season 2 Abattoir of Zir ready Invincible Blood Mist (Infinimist) endgame build for Necromancer in Diablo 4 (D4) that utilizes the invulnerability effect of Blood Mist and the massive AOE damage of Corpse Explosion. Read on to learn all the Gear, Skills, and Aspects you need and how to play the build for Season 2 Abattoir of Zir (AoZ)(Version 1.2.3).

Infinimist Strengths and Weaknesses

Strengths

Strengths
✔️High Survivability Build
✔️Has an Easy Time Clearing Mob Groups
✔️Not Resource Hungry

High Survivability Build

The Infinite Mist Build features the highest survivability among all popular Necromancer builds and for good reason. You have a ton of Cooldown Reduction which allows you to use Bone Storm much easily which translates to extra shielding and Blood Mist to get a semi-infinite invulnerability. This is the most friendly end-game build for Necromancers which also makes it perfect for the newly added Abattoir of Zir content.

Has an Easy Time Clearing Mob Groups

The Invincible Blood Mist relies on Lucky Hit Chance to activate most of its damage and effects and Lucky Hit applies per damage proc on each enemy which translates to more triggers the more enemies you are hitting. This again, means that you can easily get more triggers the more enemies you hit such as more cooldown reduction from Decrepify, X'Fal triggers, and Shadowblight bonus damage triggers!

Not Resource Hungry

This is a build that doesn't use any Core Skills and our only Essence consuming skill is Decrepify which we don't need to use as our main damage source. We also supply the build with Grim Harvest and a ton of corpse-consuming skills which essentially means that this build will never suffer from a lack of resource and has no need for any essence regenerating effects.

Weaknesses

Weaknesses
❌Suffers Against Blood Seekers in Abattoirs of Zir
❌Slow Gameplay
❌Low DPS against High HP lone enemies

Suffers Against AoZ Blood Seekers

We suffer from fighting against lone enemies or a few number of enemies that can deal high amounts of damage while also being durable. The Blood Seekers from the Abattoirs of Zir is one good example of this which makes clearing the last part of the said end-game dungeon difficult.

Slow Gameplay

Despite the amount of actions you do, the speed of defeating enemies doesn't compare to other meta builds where you can instantly clear every enemy you see on screen. Its also DoT focused so you'll need to be able to pull in enemies to maximize your DPS and speed to farm enemies much more efficiently.

Low DPS Against Vampiric and Single Enemies

Our worst nemesis are single enemies like Elites and Bosses. Its near impossible to defeat enemies that are alone and much more impossible if a single enemy has the Vampiric Elite Affix as their sustain can outpace our own DPS.

This is a heavily modified build that aims to deal huge amounts of damage via Shadow DoTs from Corpse Explosion and its procs from Shadowblight and X'Fal's Corroded Signet while being able to stay away from harm via shields from Bone Storm and Blood Mist. We utilize several defensive Aspects such as Disobedience, Shielding Storm, and Explosive Mist to increase our Survivability

We use Lidless Wall and Howl from Below as our Unique to increase our flash farming potential for faster clears which is important in the new Abattoir of Zir and the newly added Ring of the Sacrilegous Soul and the earlier mentioned X'Fal's Corroded Signet for more passive DoTs.

When you kill an enemy, Fortify for 6% of your Base Life. While you have more Fortify than half of your Maximum Life, you gain 8% Critical Strike Chance.
We use Sanguine Brace as a way to slowly build up Fortify together with Necrotic Carapace. Building up Fortify is a solid way for us to get more Damage Reduction which is essential for survival for the hardest content in the end game.

Corpse Tendrils will apply Vulnerable to enemies which is a free way to get some more DPS from Prey on the weak.

An easy DPS boost to enemies that are not stunned by Grasping Veins. We do not slot in Metamorphosis which prevents us from easily applyinv Vampiric Curse but there are several occassion where enemies will be able to move while afflicted by Corpse Explosion's DoT which will still result in a hefty amount of DPS boost from Flowing Veins.

You deal 24% increased damage to enemies who are Stunned, Immobilized, Frozen, or Feared. If they're also Injured and not an Elite, they're instantly killed.
Domination makes up for the DPS loss we lose from Flowing Veins if enemies are stunned by Grasping Veins. This provides a decent 24% bonus damage to stunned enemies which we benefit a lot from.

Hitting an enemy with a Basic Skill grants you 4% Attack Speed for 10 seconds, stacking up to 5 times. Upon reaching maximum stacks, you enter a Vampiric Bloodrage, gaining 160% Basic Skill damage and 15% Movement Speed for 10 seconds.
Anticipation provides a DPS boost to your ultimate when the said enemies are afflicted with DoT. We use the Aspect of Ultimate Shadow to turn our Bone Storm to shadow and inflict DoT which essentially means that our Bone Storm would always have a lower cooldown and big DPS boost. This boost also works to the Bone Storm summoned by Lidless Wall.

3.0% Damage Reduction while Fortified

This Infinite Mist build has a supplementary Fortify build up capability and slotting in maxed out Royal Sapphires gives us a hefty 15% damage reduction once we reach Fortify status. We chose Sapphires over Rubies as these reduction is much more valuable than flat out HP to avoid getting killed by random attacks and affixes.

Provides 30% Elemental resistance to a chosen element. We highly recommend capping out your elemental Resistance and gems that provide elemental resistances will be the key to doing so. The gems you can use for the three jewelry slots you have are flexible and highly depends on the resistances you currently have. We also recommend supplmenting this with one armor piece (Helm, Torso, or Waist piece) to cap out all of your resistances.

Knowledge

We take all the rare and magic nodes available in the Starting board save for a few Willpower Rare Node while also taking Intelligence nodes to amplify the effects of the Darkness glyph.

  • Shadow (Glyph) - A straight up damage boost to shadow damage which is the main damage type of Infinite Mist.
  • Resilience (Rare) - Provides a decent amount of survivability to our build. Allows us an extra wiggle room to not be in Bloodmist and fire off some Corpse Explosion or other utility skills.
  • Prime (Rare) - Provides a straight up DPS boost which this build desperately needs against higher difficulty content and boss fights.
  • Knowledge - Same reasoning as Prime but we don't take the Willpower Nodes.
  • Preservation - A good source of armor to amplify our survivability.

Wither (Scourge)

Wither.png

Board Wither
Glyph Socket Control
Essential Nodes Gloom

Lingering Shadows
Dragging Shadows

Our second board would be Wither and we also take a route where we avoid the Rare Node Restorative and avoid some Shadow Resistance Nodes. We take just enough to be able to cap out our Shadow Resistance without the need of getting all the Shadow Resistance nodes in this board.

  • Scourge (Glyph) - A straight up damage boost to shadow damage DoT type which is the main damage type of Infinite Mist. Taken with the same reasoning as Darkness.
  • Gloom (Rare) - Gets us an extra Intelligence stat and Shadow Resistance. We don't take any other Shadow Resistance nodes aside from the one magic node leading to it as this allows us to cap out the Shadow Resistance for our build without relying on other elemental gems.
  • Gnawing Darkness (Rare) - Increased damage to elite and Shadow DoT damage which are both stats that we need.
  • Lingering Shadows (Rare) - Shadow Damage and Shadow Damage over time which is another set of damage amplification for our build.
  • Dragging Shadows (Rare) - Damage reduction to shadow afflicted enemies means we survive much easier against enemies that have been hit by either Corpse Explosion or Bone Storm.

Flesh-Eater (Tears of Blood)

Flesh Eater.png

Board Flesh-eater
Glyph Socket Tears of Blood
Essential Nodes Erudite
Targeted
Stifle
Poison Conditioned

Our third board is where we socket in the newly added Tears of Blood Glyph. This is the board that has the most stat nodes that its max radius can occupy with only 14 blank nodes and non-stat Magic nodes. We also take several DPS Rare nodes as well as Resistance boosting nodes to further increase our survivability.

  • Tears of Blood (Glyph) - The main reason that we use Tears of Blood in Flesh-Eater is it's the most efficient Glyph slot for Tears of Blood at Tier 50. At Tier 50, it will only have 14 wasted slots and 6 non-stat magic nodes which will greatly amplify the damage bonus that Tears of Blood has.
  • Erudite (Rare) - Has the most Resistance increasing Rare node and can cap out the rest of our Elemental Resistance provided that we supplement the rest with elemental gems.
  • Targeted (Rare) - Damage to elites and intelligence. A semi-mandatory node for our build to ensure that we're able to kill elites, especially the Blood Seekers in Abattoirs of Zir.
  • Poison Conditioned (Rare) - Provides Poison Resistance and armor. You can reduce some stats to take some more Poison resist nodes if the build still doesn't have a maxed out poison resistance.
  • Stifle (Rare) - Critical Strike damage and damage to injured. Critical Strike is great for our Shadowblight and and damage to injured allows us to clear mob groups much easier.

Scent of Death (Exhumation)

scent of death.png

Board Flesh-eater Paragon Board Nodes
Glyph Socket Exhumation
Control
Essential Nodes Ruin
Preservation

Our last board is Scent of Death with the Exhumation Glyph. We use Exhumation as our Glyph choice despite the lower DPS in favor of increasing our Fortify build up uptime. We want to be in the Fortified State as soon as possible to avoid accidental one-shots during the start of the dungeon but this can be changed with the Control Glyph if you wish to increase your DPS further in exchange of durability loss.

  • Exhumation (Glyph) - Can be swapped out with Control if you want more damage but due to the high damage output of enemies in Abattoir of Zir, we recommend slotting in Exhumation instead to reach Fortify status faster and an extra damage reduction. Coupled with our Gems, this gives a solid 29% damage reduction while fortified.
  • Preservation (Rare) - Armor for higher survivability.
  • Ruin (Rare) -More critical strike damage for X'fal and Shadowblight as well as some extra damage to healthy enemies.

Infinimist Playstyle

Invincible Blood Mist Build Tips

Recommended Skill Rotation

1 Use Reap to trigger the Acolyte's Reap modifier which produces a free corpse.
2 Immediately cast Bone Storm for to get the additional Critical Strike Chance and Damage Reduction from enemies.
3 Cast your Corpse Explosion and Decrepify to deal inflict damage and apply slow to nearby enemies. This will also reduce the cooldown of all of your spells because of the Abhorent Decrepify modifier.
4 Use your Blood Mist and pass through enemies to trigger the Corpse Explosion.

On top of the Corpse Explosion and Decrepify, you can also cast your Corpse Tendrils to group up enemies or to apply Stun and Vulnerable to enemies if needed.

Spam Your Decrepify

Decrepify is the life of this build and is the gear that enables the whole “Infinite Mist” build to work. Without Decrepify, this build will not get the much-needed Cooldown Reduction it needs to quickly cycle their Bone Storms and Blood Mist for the near-invulnerable playstyle

Avoid Ending Blood Mist in Dangerous Zones

Blood Mist does provide invincibility but be sure to exit the Blood Mist on safer areas. You may not be able to get a full cooldown depending on your Lucky Hit chance and the enemy density (smaller number of enemies means lower enemies to hit which further lessens our lucky hit chance proc) so be sure to avoid appearing in dangerous areas. This is especially true against enemies that explode such as Bloated Corpses and elite affixes that explode as these can potentially kill you even through the Shielding Storm barrier.

Use Bone Storm to Increase DPS and Survivability

While Bone Storm is great for applying critical strike bonuses, its greatest purpose is to get the shield from Shielding Storm and its DoT application once we add the shadow attribute to it via Aspect of Ultimate Shadow. With our setup that includes Lidless Wall, this also allows us to summon three more Bone Storms for a faster AoE clear.

Gameplay Focuses on Lucky Hit Chance

We amplify our Lucky Hit Chance as humanely as possible with this build. With the unique setup and proper affixes, you should be able to hit a baseline of 50% Lucky Hit Chance and more from your Helmet with Lucky Hit Chance while on Barrier and from Greaves of the Empty Tomb against enemies afflicted shadow DoT. We should sit at a comfortable Lucky Hit sum of 70% which is enough to sustain a near permanent uptime even against three durable targets. However, if you're facing less than three, we highly recommend looking for new mob groups as your DPS will greatly plummet without the needed Lucky Hit Procs against groups.
