One of the key functions of the Jeweler is the crafting and combining of gems. Like in previous Diablo titles, gems are a special type of item that can be socketed into your equipment, giving them additional effects and bonuses depending on the type of gem. Spend gold and combine your low-tier gems to craft more powerful gems for socketing.

Emerald |
Weapon: +% Critical Strike Damage to Vulnerable Enemies Armor: + Dexterity Jewelry: +% Poison Resistance |

Aside from gem crafting, the Jeweler can also unsocket slotted gems from your equipment in exchange for 2952 Gold. If you want to switch out certain bonuses and effects, or replace your build's gems entirely, you can use the Unsocket function of the Jeweler to quickly remove gems from your equipment.
The Jeweler can also add gem sockets to any piece of your equipment in exchange for Gold and Scattered Prisms. This allows you to slot gems into items that fit your build, giving them more utility on top of the stats and Aspects they already possess.
Note: Scattered Prisms are not easily obtained as these rare crafting materials only drop after defeating World Bosses in Diablo 4. Keep this in mind before adding gem sockets to your items.
One of the key functions of a Jeweler is upgrading your Rings and Amulets. To begin upgrading your jewelry, choose any Rare or Legendary jewelry piece from your equipped items, inventory, or stash. Drop the item in the Upgrade Item tab of the Jeweler to start the process.
Note: While you can upgrade Common and Magical rarity jewelery, it is not recommended as the stats offered by these lower-tier items are outclassed by Rares and Legendaries.
Upgrade Cost | Rare | Legendary |
---|---|---|
First Upgrade | ・400 Gold ・5 Iron Chunks |
・500 Gold ・5 Iron Chunks |
Second Upgrade | ・800 Gold ・5 Iron Chunks ・4 Silver Ore |
・1200 Gold ・5 Iron Chunks ・4 Silver Ore |
Third Upgrade | ・2000 Gold ・8 Iron Chunks ・6 Silver Ore ・4 Veiled Crystals |
・3000 Gold ・8 Iron Chunks ・6 Silver Ore ・6 Veiled Crystals |
Once you confirm the stat increases of the end product, spend Gold and the necessary Crafting Materials to upgrade your item. Do note that upgrading only works on Rare or Legendary Rings and Amulets. Magical and Common jewelry cannot be upgraded.
Much like the Occultist, the Jeweler is one of the only NPCs that will be unavailable to you when first starting out in Diablo 4. To unlock the Jeweler and their Priority Quest called Gem Crafting, players will first need to reach Level 20 with their character.
