CD Projekt Red Hires Many Veteran Developers For New Project

CD Projekt Red North America, the developer behind Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher, has announced the recruitment of several high-profile developers for Project Orion. Project Orion is believed to be the highly anticipated sequel to Cyberpunk 2077.

According to a press release, Project Orion is currently in the early stages of development, with core team members from Cyberpunk 2077 leading the charge. This includes Game Director Gabriel Amatangelo, Associate Game Director Paweł Sasko, Creative Director Igor Sarzyński, and several others. They are joined by a newly established team based in a dedicated CD Projekt Red studio in Boston, Massachusetts.

The new recruits boast extensive experience across various AAA titles. Dan Hernberg (formerly of Amazon Games, Panic Button, and Blizzard Entertainment) joins as Executive Producer, while Ryan Barnard (Massive Entertainment, Ubisoft, IO Interactive) takes on the role of Design Director. Technical expertise is bolstered by Alan Villani (WB Games, Mortal Kombat), while the narrative is strengthened with the addition of award-winning writer Anna Megill (Control, Dishonored, Fable) and New York Times bestselling novelist Alexander Freed (Star Wars: The Old Republic, BioWare).

This recruitment drive is impressive, to say the least. These are huge names, and they’ve worked on amazing projects. With a team composed of experienced industry veterans, Project Orion is shaping up to be an ambitious endeavor for CD Projekt Red. If anything, the establishment of a dedicated studio in North America alone is a huge indicator of what’s coming. This recruitment effort just shows that the company is taking this as seriously as possible.

Unfortunately, the press release does not disclose any specific details about Project Orion’s gameplay, story, or release date. So we’ll have to wait for further information as the development progresses.
