When it comes to first-person shooters, one name that pops up in your head immediately is Valorant. Since 2020, this game has been making its fanbase larger and larger. With its intricate maps, captivating tactical gameplay, and brilliant optimization on all systems, this game has won everyone’s hearts.
However, there is another reason why this game has seen so much success, and that is its diverse agent roster. Right now, this Riot Games shooter features a diverse roster of a total of 26 agents. To maintain a balance between all the agents, Riot needs to enforce buffs and nerfs on them. Now it seems the developers have forgotten to nerf one overpowered Duelist in the game.
In a recent Reddit post, a dedicated Valorant player stated that Neon needs a serious nerf as this Fillipino agent is becoming OP day by day and causing a lot of problems to its opponents. Neon has a passive ability called energy with which she can run at rapid speed.
She is so fast that she can take entry into a site before a Sage can throw her slow orb. Along with the energy ability, Neon combines her signature ability called High Gear, with which she can slide away so fast that you cannot even flick your cursor over her.
Not only that, the cooldown period of her passive ability is the shortest in the game, so she can run faster than anyone in the game for almost the whole round. And despite all the tactics, she can come running towards you and knock you off with a headshot while sliding.
Some players have even made their own movement combos like bunny hops or side strafes, which makes it impossible to hit Neon. Her uncanny edge over the other agents in the game has made players feel that Neon is from any other game. That is why players are demanding a whole rework on her, just like Riot did with Yoru in Patch 4.40 two years ago.
Riot developers promised us that by the end of the year, Harbor will get a major rework. But we still don’t know if we are getting an overhaul nerf on Neon. Till then, here are some steps with which you can counter the Filipino Duelist.
Firstly, it’s the best bet to hold any corners when you are facing Neon. It will decrease her space to slide down and force her to move with a regular speed upon meeting the corner.
If you give her enough space to slide down, like in an alley or in longer chokepoints, then get ready to spectate the rest of the round. And yes, make sure to hold a Judge or a Bucky, because you will get only one or two chances to hit her, and these shotguns are your go-to weapons.
Another effective way to counter this agent is the tripwires from Cypher. Unlike Jett, Neon can’t updraft the trips of the Sentinel. No matter how fast she runs, she will eventually get caught in them. Also, Vyse’s Razorvine can resist Neon as well.
