Stimulate creativity! Larian does not object to Baldur 3 players exploiting bugs

For developer Larian, Baldur's Gate 3 has been an undeniable success, but the game is not without bugs. Most developers would condemn players who exploit bugs, but Larian has taken a different approach, hoping to encourage "creativity and experimentation" within the community.

At a gaming conference in Sofia, Bulgaria, in early 2024, Larian developer Mihail Kostov outlined strategies for keeping games like Baldur's Gate 3 playable even when players break their mechanics.

Recently, the recording of the meeting was made public, in which Kostov described how Baldur's Gate 3 "inspires and rewards" players' creativity, rather than erasing it from the game, and said, "We at Larian believe that players' creativity is great."

He acknowledges that some players' behavior may push the game mechanics to an extreme, but he feels that this is one of the most fun parts of developing the game.
