Call of Duty's Season 6 update is now live in both Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone, and the patch notes detail all the big changes for this new season. Season 6 makes adjustments to multiplayer game modes, buffs an assortment of unpopular guns from Modern Warfare 2, and reveals a short season of Ranked Play for Warzone.
Season 6 is the final season of Modern Warfare 3. The big update is themed around Call of Duty's annual Halloween event called The Haunting, with maps, game modes, weapon blueprints, and operators all themed around the spooky season. More Season 6 content details can be found here, which includes all the dates for the upcoming special events for The Haunting, another crossover with The Walking Dead, and other holiday festivities.
You can also check out all the major highlights of the Season 6 battle pass, which includes Michael Myers as an operator, Halloween-themed weapon blueprints, and more.
The Season 6 patch notes include several changes for the Cyber Attack and Infected multiplayer game modes.
For Cyber Attack, the update corrects issues causing enemy pings to not transition to an inactive state upon death, and it fixes the game icons to correctly indicate the bomb carrier on the scoreboard in Hardcore mode. Previously, Enhanced Vision Goggles would incorrectly draw red outlines on dead enemies, but the developer has addressed this as well.
Major changes are made for the Infected game mode. Likely the most impactful change is that UAV sweeps are now disabled, which the developer says was turned off to allow the survivors a chance to hide. Additionally, players will no longer forcibly activate the Dead Silence field upgrade upon becoming the first one infected, and additional match time is now only added for the first five survivor deaths, effectively capping the maximum match duration at five minutes. The update also reintroduces a majority of available maps to the Infected playlist.
The Season 6 update provides a significant nerf to Season 5's powerful STG-44 assault rifle. This includes an 8% decrease to the maximum damage, a 17% reduction to the maximum damage range, a 14% decrease to the near-medium damage range, and a 13% reduction to the medium damage range.
With these changes, the developer says that the STG44 is no longer capable of a three-shot kill within its maximum damage range.
Another major nerf impacts Season 5's Static-HV submachine gun. The weapon was adjusted with a 9% decrease to maximum damage, and a 7% reduction to both the medium damage and near-medium damage. The developer says that within its maximum damage range, the Static-HV is no longer capable of a four-shot kill without a headshot.
The patch notes also detail buffs to make assault rifles from Modern Warfare 2 more viable, with higher damage and better range, so players may want to try these weapons as an alternative to the STG-44. The list includes the M4, Chimera, Tempus Razorback, M13C, and TR-76 Geist assault rifles.
While popular MW3 submachine guns like the Superi 46 and Static-HV are no longer overpowered options, the Season 6 update buffs a selection of Modern Warfare 2's submachines. This includes the ISO 45, ISO 9mm, PDSW 528, and Fennec 45 submachine guns.
Of these, the Fennec 45 has one of the most notable adjustments with an 8% increase to maximum damage, a 30% increase to the gun's near-medium damage, and additional 28% to medium damage.
Zombies wrapped up the final story mission in Season 5, so there are very few changes for the mode.
The update provides fixes for an issue that previously caused shock sticks to prevent the Entity boss-fight encounter from progressing, and it corrects a bug that previously caused a crash to occur when throwing a spear at a Hellhound.
Previously, the Reclaimer 18 shotgun wouldn't deal damage to mercenary enemy types if the weapon was equipped with the JAK Devastators conversion kit, but the developer says this issue is also resolved.
A new season of Warzone includes more of the seasonal challenges for unlocking new camos. There are four categories of challenges as detailed below. Each challenge will offer a small reward for completion, but completing a full category will reward players with a new camo.
For Warzone, Season 6 doesn't make as many nerfs as the multiplayer side. The STG-44 did receive a nerf to reduce the gun's damage range and lower the damage modifiers for the lower torso, lower arm, and hands. But most notably, the update buffs some of the guns from MW2's arsenal.
This includes small adjustments to MW2's M13c, M16, and TR-Geist assault rifles. The most impactful change being for the M16, which now has major buffs to the AK Patriot conversion kit. This attachment now offers an increased maximum damage range with a change from 30.48 to now 36.83 meters, the near-mid damage range increased from 37.33 to 43.18 meters, and the mid-damage range increased from 53.34 to 60.96 meters.
Some of MW2's battle rifles received changes to recoil and handling. The damage profiles aren't adjusted, but these weapons could become more viable now that they will be easier to handle. The list includes the Cronen Squall, FTAC Recon, Lachman-762, and the TAQ-V battle rifles.
Warzone's Ranked Play remains on Rebirth Island, but the mode is getting a shorter competitive season for this final season of Modern Warfare 3, with the end date set before the arrival of Black Ops 6. The developer says Season 6 of Ranked Play ends on Thursday, October 17 at 12 AM PT / 3 AM ET.
A countdown timer will be displayed in the game's UI to inform all players of the season's ending. New seasonal rewards will still be available, and the Skill Division rewards will be granted soon after the season has come to an end.

Sam (SpecGru)
To the unsuspecting, Sam might seem like just another kid out trick-or-treating, but there's nothing sweet about what's lurking beneath his eerie costume. His burlap sack mask hides a truly sinister face, and while his pumpkin lollipop and chocolate candy bar might look tasty, when wielded by Sam, they both quickly become deadly weapons.
Sam acts as judge, jury, and executioner for those who break the rules and traditions of the holiday, so if he shows up at your door this Halloween, you'd better be in costume and armed with a bowl full of treats—because if not, you might be in for one hell of a trick.
Sam’s Rules of Halloween:
1. Wear a costume.
2. Pass out treats.
3. Never blow out a jack-o’-lantern.
4. And ALWAYS check your candy.
Daryl Dixon (SpecGru)
Daryl Dixon learned from an early age that survival often means relying on oneself. Growing up in a dysfunctional family with an alcoholic father and an unreliable older brother, Daryl developed a keen sense of self-reliance and adaptability. His difficult upbringing left him with excellent survival skills, but poor social skills and a deep-seated mistrust of others.
Before the outbreak, Daryl lived a solitary life in the woods of Georgia with his brother Merle. He had no steady job and often followed his brother’s lead engaging in illicit activities. After the fall, Daryl and Merle were separated when Merle was left handcuffed on a rooftop. Daryl joined Rick on an unsuccessful mission to rescue Merle, and later formed strong bonds within the group, particularly with Carol Peletier and Rick himself.
Now, as chaos engulfs the world, Daryl stands ready to use his unique skillset to navigate the dangers that lurk around every corner. Whether stalking targets through dense forests or defending strategic positions in urban warfare, Daryl remains an unpredictable and formidable force.
Slamfire (SpecGru)
Felix peaked in high school. When he wasn’t playing football, he also wasn’t studying – instead you could find him glued to his collection of horror films, from the suspenseful to the grotesque. As the Captain of the football team and a certified straight A student (despite all the horror flicks), he was winning games and grades all the way through graduation. With a college scholarship in hand, he was so excited to start studying, he forgot to stop partying, and flunked out of college. Without classes or football to guide him, the real horror set in… adulthood.
Unsure of his future, Felix returned to his high school as a summer camp counselor and pondered what he wanted to be now that he was all grown up. But then…
One eerie twilit evening, a strange man in a football helmet rampaged through the camp! He terrorized the teens and revved more than a few chainsaws, but it was none other than Felix himself who tackled him to the ground, effectively catching the killer, and saving the day.
To continue honing his skills in survival, and saving civilians, Felix enlisted in the military with the goal of one day returning to college and finishing his degree in film studies. He hopes to one day direct a film inspired by his own experiences as a camp counselor, and the infamous football helmet killer.
Art the Clown (KorTac)
First appearing in Miles County on Halloween night, this demonic entity quickly established himself as a force of pure evil, leaving behind a path of bloody murders.
Art is marked by an unmistakable look – a black and white clown outfit, featuring a white and black painted demonic/devilish face and his expressions alternating between wide grins and menacing sneers. He employs extreme violence often through diverse weapons and instruments to creatively kill his victims using more gruesome methods as his crimes continue.
He has supernatural powers including apparent immortality. Even when seemingly fatally wounded, he survives such injuries coming back always again to reign terror.
Art does not speak but uses exaggerated expressions and gestures instead. This makes him even more creepy since he silently moves around like a predator stalking its prey while having that sick sense of humor present in clowns.
His targets seem random, but he seems particularly captivated by young women whom he often torments for extensive periods before killing them. His acts are not just murder; they are meticulously staged performances of cruelty that mirror his deranged clown character way of life.
Michael Myers (KorTac)
Born in the small town of Haddonfield, Illinois, the life of Michael Myers took a dark turn at the age of six when he inexplicably murdered his older sister on Halloween in 1963. Following this tragedy, Michael was institutionalized at Smith's Grove Sanitarium, where he remained for 15 years under the care of child psychiatrist Dr. Sam Loomis. During this time, Michael never spoke a word. Dr. Loomis, initially optimistic about Michael's treatment, grew to believe that his patient was pure evil, devoid of any humanity.
Michael escaped from the sanitarium on October 30th, 1978, and on Halloween night began stalking a high school student named Laurie Strode. Wearing a pale, expressionless mask and blue coveralls Michael relentlessly pursued Laurie throughout the night, killing her friends and anyone who got in his way. Despite being injured multiple times by both Loomis and Laurie, Michael continued his pursuit, seemingly indestructible.
The events of Halloween 1978 cemented Michael Myers' legacy as one of the most terrifying figures in Haddonfield's history. His silence, his apparent lack of motive beyond pure evil, and his unstoppable nature make him the embodiment of mindless, motiveless malignancy - a boogeyman come to life.
