As an Explorer, you'll want to travel as far as possible and gather information about all the planets you visit. You start with Astrodynamics which helps your ship's grav drive, letting you visit other star systems. As you explore more worlds, it's best to keep improving your ship and investing in related skills like Starship Design.
Discover more about the different planets with Science Skills like Astrophysics and Surveying. You'll also want Boost Pack Training to give you a view from above and Scavenging to pick up any materials you find during your exploration.
If you run into any hostiles, your experience with Lasers should make it easier to defend yourself even in zero gravity. Improve the damage of laser weapons by learning related skills such as Pistol Certification and Rifle Certification.
Weapon | Type | Damage | Ammo Type |
---|---|---|---|
Ember | Laser Pistol | Engy | 1.5KV LZR |
Orion | Laser Rifle | Engy | 3KV LZR |
Unmitigated Violence | Laser Rifle | Engy | 3KV LZR |
Explorers already have experience with Lasers, so Laser Weapons are a natural fit. You can equip laser pistols and rifles depending on your preference. Do note that the Unmitigated Violence is an endgame pick due to being obtained late in the game.
Best Weapons: Weapon Tier List
As you're exploring different worlds, you'll have to prepare for all types of damage and have the proper resistances against harsh environments.
Alien DNA |
You volunteered for a controversial experiment that combines alien and human DNA. As a result, you start with increased health and oxygen, but healing and food items aren't as effective. |
---|---|
Raised Universal |
You grew up as a member of the Sanctum Universum. You gain access to a special chest full of items in the Sanctum Universum in New Atlantis, but lose access to the House of the Enlightened chest. (Can't be combined with any other religion trait.) |
Spaced |
Your body has become acclimated to space. Health and oxygen are increased when in space. but decreased when on the surface. (Can't be combined with Terra Firma.) |
As you'll likely spend a lot of time in space, the Spaced trait should boost your health and endurance often. You can also pick Alien DNA to enhance them even further or to mitigate the penalty if you're on the surface. Having a religion-based trait like Raised Universal also gives you access to exclusive items and dialogue, which can help with your exploration.
Starting Skills | Description |
