As of the writing of this article, there is no confirmed fix for the bug, nor has it been announced by Pocketpair that a fix is on its way. Keep an eye on our updates page to stay tuned for future game updates and bug fixes.
Listed are possible fixes some players have reported to have worked for them. However, others have also reported the contrary, so your mileage may vary.
One theory as to what might be triggering the bug are too many loose items in your world. If you have multiple bases filled with working pals, they may be dropping items and permanently leaving them on the ground.
If this were the case, returning all pals to the Palbox and picking up all loose items in your bases may fix the issue.
Another way to try to resolve the issue of having too many loose items on the ground is by changing a specific world setting. In the list of world settings, set the Maximum number of dropped items setting to zero (0). After changing this setting, restart your game and all loose items should disappear.
If this is what's causing the bug, your game should properly save now. Make sure to revert the setting to default (3000) or to a number you prefer.
Another possible fix is by immediately quitting the game as soon as it attempts to save. You'll know that your game is attempting a save if the prompt appears on the upper right side of your screen.
Another theory of why the World Save bug may be happening is having too many structures outside of your bases. Try destroying structures outside your base to see if that resolves the bug issue.
How to Destroy and Move Structures
We are not sure how or why this works but some players reported that they were able to fix the issue simply by taking a screenshot using the Xbox App. You can activate the overlay on your PC by pressing Windows+G on your keyboard, or the share button on the controller.
The world save bug prevents the game from autosaving properly for players on Xbox and PC Game Pass. The bug is indicated by a red message on the left side of the screen that says World Data autosave failed.
In our experience, character-related progress is still saved while everything else is not.
So, changes and progress in relation to pals, inventory, and base structures are not saved, but technology points and unlocks and Lifmunk Effigy Catch Rate Boosts are saved.
