Annual Story-based PvE Event

Overwatch Archives is an annual PvE event in Overwatch 2 that sends 4 players to complete missions based on iconic moments in Overwatch's story. Each game mode in Overwatch Archives corresponds to one of these missions, and each of them has its own unique story, characters, and cosmetic rewards.

Exclusive Archives Loot Box

Overwatch Archives also features an event-exclusive Loot Box. These Archives Loot Boxes contain skins and cosmetic items based on the current Archives story or from the Overwatch heroes' younger years.

Overwatch Archives Game Modes

Uprising

Released in 2017, Overwatch Uprising is a game mode that sends players back into the past to relive Tracer's first mission: the Null Sector attack on King's Row. Players take on the roles of Torbjörn, Tracer, Reinhardt, and Mercy as they clear the streets of London from the Omnic threat.

Retribution

Overwatch Retribution was first released in 2018. This game mode takes players on a mission to escape from a heavily-fortified Talon mansion after a Blackwatch mission that went wrong. Players take on the roles of Reaper (as Gabriel Reyes), Genji, Cassidy, and Moira as they battle through numerous Talon forces in Italy.

Storm Rising

Overwatch Storm Rising was the third Archives game mode released in 2019. This game mode sends players on a mission to capture the high-ranking Talon member Maximilien after tracking down his convoy. Players take on the roles of Tracer. Mercy, Winston, and Genji as they chase Maximilien down through the streets of Havana, Cuba.

Overwatch Archives Weekly Challenges

Complete Missions to Unlock Event Cosmetics

During Archives Events, players can earn stars in Archives Missions to unlock different event-exclusive cosmetics every week. In addition, completing Challenge Missions and higher-difficulty missions provide additional stars towards unlocking the next reward.
